Dear Plano,
Thank you for your comment.
We do understand your disappointment with this router and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing unstable wireless connection. To resolve the weak signal, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration. Also, we recommend updating the router's firmware if it is running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at: https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/rt-ax1800s/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=RT-AX1800S. Additionally, verify if the PC or device connecting to the router is working properly and within range to the router, the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and your ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable.

Does not work with Airmesh. Updated firmware. Place By the RT AX3000. Initialize Airmesh. AX 1800. Connects. Power down the AX1800 to move. AX1800 won’t re- connect to the AX3000 even setting side by side.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This router would not become a mesh node on my RT-AC5300! I have other ASUS products that added without issue but this one never worked. I called support and they eventually hung up. In the end, I returned the product and gave up on ASUS. I installed and eero Pro 6E and everything works better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This router was purchased to serve as an extention on our local network, it lacked basic settings to support the primary router in its job and ultimately died just a short time after the end of the warranty period. If you are hoping for a reliable product to last a few years, this isn't it.

Dear Againben,
We certainly understand your disappointment with the router and the inconvenience this may have caused if it stop working after warranty ends.
All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, and are built to last, this router not working after warranty ends is a random problem. This router has all the features of an industry-standard access point, media bridge, repeater or a router.

The worst ever registration process I have ever encountered. The router is not worth the headache to go through the hassle to open account, register etc. I never got to the actual page to clear cache etc. I should have known when the system generated password wasn't accepted for several tries after mine was rejected. I'm tossing yours in the trash and using the one IO replaced it with..... that works better any way. In short; a joke all the way through the several hour hassle to get nothing other than an account opened ,sad folks !!!

It gets hacked to easy. Or either the person hacking me is just plain better than me. I enabled ALL the AI security features. I changed to a very very secure password. The event log showed him/her still getting in. I renamed and hid the router. He/She knew by then it the type of router and just kept sending a repeating signal to shut down the wi-fi. I gave up. I ordered a spectrum router and the problem was solved maybe. For the moment, my devices are functioning. There are about a 100 spectrum routers at my apartment complex. Maybe I am hiding safely in the crowd.

I am disappointed that I cannot just simply extend my current wifi without it creating its own network. I need to walk around my house and roam from my AT&T router to the ASUS router seemingly. The only option close to what I need makes you connect wireless to your existing WiFi but I need to connect via wired connection that’s why I bought this device but not able to

Dear Johnny R,
Thank you for your comment.
We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing weak signal strength. Certainly this router will extent your WIFI coverage or range. Typically, the coverage of this router is up to 4,800 sq. ft. To resolve the weak signal, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway
between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration. Firmware is available for download at: https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/rt-ax1800s/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=RT-AX1800S.
