Uniquely designed, sharp, well balanced knife set

This knife set came ready to use with an very sharp edge; they didn't require "touch-up" sharpening before first use. All of the knives slice and cut beautifully and are extremely well balanced; the unique bolster/tang and polished surfaces make for a very attractive set. One item of note - the handles are made of a synthetic slightly "grippy" surface that really helps prevent the knives from slipping, especially helpful when the handle or hand is wet. I was concerned that the heavy tang would affect balance but each knife is just about perfect; the tang and handle fit comfortably in my hand and the balance and overall weight make chopping especially effortless. One caution - the blades are made of forged stainless steel and are quite hard, probably around 60-62 HRC. This allows for a very sharp and long lasting knife edge but the blades are more brittle than low end knives. Do NOT use them to pry open a lid or twist a screw - the blade tip WILL break off - and be aware that that dropping the knife on a hard surface may break the blade. And, of course, never wash them in the dishwasher!!

We bought the knife set about a month ago. The set was a replacement of similar knifes. Be sure the handwash all knifes all of the time.
