I couldn't decide between the 7qt and the 9 qt. On my way home I thought I'd made a mistake.. it seemed so big for 4 people. Wow, was I wrong, so glad I went with the larger one because I have plenty of room inside for my food to comfortable stretch out and cook evenly. I was moving from the 5.5 qt, which I thought was good enough. I wish I had bought a large one earlier, I can use if for when we have guests or just want extra food and the surface area for the initial browning of the meat is so helpful. I love Staub and have loved it for while so this is just the new jewel in the crown!

I was looking for a large pot so that I could make stew and marinara sauce during the holidays for my family gathering that include 15 people and I am so happy I cam across this one! I love how the cast iron heats super evenly and maintains a constant heat. I have found that I don't get hot spots that could burn with a thinner pot because it is so heavy duty. I also love that it is enameled so that I don't have to treat it specially like I would if it were regular cast iron. I find myself pulling this out not just at holidays because it's also great for when I make an extra and I am able to freeze the rest.
got the pot with the full intention of cooking beef stew and wasn't disappointed. can cook on high to start and go to low to finish, almost braising the meat! very happy!!

Hungry family

Nice a big for a large hungry family. I've learned a bigger pot is always better than a pot too small. No worries when we cook a roast or chicken. And great for the chili cook-off with friends. It is heavy but I find if I take the lid off to transfer it from oven to table, it alleviates a lot of the weight.

Go big or go home with this gorgeous dark blue 9qt. Feed the ENTIRE family during the holidays or cook in large, freezable batches with this stunning cast iron piece. The self-basting spikes under the lid promise the most flavorful results while the nonstick enameled interior (ideal for browning and searing) makes the perfect heating element for your stove or oven-baked dishes.

For large gatherings this Staub 9 qt Dutch oven is the ideal size. The enameled black matte interior promotes perfect browning, braising and caramelization. Coupled with the continuous self-basting spikes found on the underside of the lid your recipes will be more tender, moist, and flavorful. Available in a beautiful assortment of matte and glossy colors.

Perfect Family Size

We have out grown our 7Qt Staub cocotte and the 9Qt is perfect. This pan can do it all - fry, saute, braise and bake. Our kitchen is tiny so we often use our BBQ as another cooking surface and this pan works perfectly on it and don't worry if any soot gets on it it comes right off.
