This is my send 1034D serger. I still have my first one purchased 5 years ago. I have done periodic cleaning and oiling which and replacing the blades recently, and with that level of maintenance it has run well. I now sew much more often so I have a second machine I can use as a back up if my first one has a maintenance issue, and I have them both set up with different thread colors so I can easily switch from one to the other. So far, so good.

I just think I am partial to Brother products. It seems every product I purchase works great and after I get the hang of using it is the best ever machine for me. This machine is easy to use and for the price its very economical. The only issue I had is learning how to thread it, the proper order of the threading. I did however go to you tube and brother had their instructional videos right there. Support easy accessed and price value you can best that combination!

This is my first serger. I don't know why I waited so long. I have beem sewing 25+ years.
The threading was easy to learn. It runs like a charm. I have done many projects with it. I read the manual and also watched a few you tube videos.
If you are thinking of purchasing this, it is great start up serger. So far Iove the rolled hemming and overlock stitch.
I also found Brother customer service great to work with. Happy sewing.

I've been wanting a serger for years. Got it for Christmas from hubby. I started with 12 napkins with rolled hems to get used to it. Went out and bought a drawer full of thread. Loved the DVDs and book. It sews like a dream and is the "work horse" of sergers. My daughter got one for her birthday also.
Bought a head light to see to thread lower looper. Also made a larger scrap catcher. Found a small plastic container for the supplies. I now have an idea for a cabinet to put it in.

All my expectations were met with the 1034D Serger. I haven't tried all it can do yet but the basic serger has served me well with holiday projects. It surprised me how strong the cutter is as it will cut through many layers of tough stuff.
I am well pleased with my purchase. There are probably better ones out there but certainly not for this price.
