I was very happy with this purchase. Read the manuals, watched the cd and grabbed some scrap fabric. The different colored thread made stitches that were easy to see how everything came together. Quickly had the adjustments worked out and was surprised at the ease of use. Made 2 dresses for the wife in no time. Easy to thread, easy to adjust, east to use.
This is my first serger and I have used it extensively since I got it. Should have had one a long time ago. It is easy to thread and it works like a charm. I am still getting used to the settings for various stitches but it comes with an easy to understand manual. The only thing I find a little cumbersome is installing and removing needles. Both needles are secured by the same clamp so you have to make sure you hang on to both needles so one doesn't fall into the machine. Otherwise going great!
I've had other sergers and ended up giving them away because they were difficult to thread and to use. The 1034D Serger is heavenly! Easy to thread, easy to use. I'm never giving this one up. Just had it a month and have made several outfits for my granddaughter and me. It's a joy to use!
I purchased my serger for a specific single purpose. After i used it several times, I started making clothes again. This was due to the ease of use for this serger. My reluctance to buy a serger was the horror stories of how hard the threading would be. The second time i used it, thread broke and i had to rethread all 4 threads. It only took about 5 minutes and I followed only the diagrams on the inside of the door.Easy, easy, easy.
I have used a serger for thirty years. It was time for a new one and I love this model. Does just what I needed and has new features I am sure I will enjoy using.
As a first time serger, I found the Brother meets my needs perfectly. The CD and manual were easy to follow and threading the machine was easier than I thought it would be. The color guides were very helpful. I am anxious to try the other features and I would definitely recommend this product.
I have never owned a serger or a Brother sewing machine. However, I had heard that Brother was a good brand. This serger comes with written instructions and a DVD. I found the DVD to be great. It was easy to see how to thread the machine. I had seen and experienced difficulty with threading before and many of my friends had discussed this topic at length. I got it threaded correctly the first time I tried. I love sewing on it and made 11 baby blankets the first afternoon.
This is a great machine. When I was researching sergers, the one thing that kept popping up was threading the machine. Things like "it will take time to learn" or "the hardest thing is threading the machine". I worried that this may not be the correct machine for me and maybe I should stick to my sewing machine. Boy am I glad I ignored my inner voice. To me threading is a snap and sewing is even easier. I love it.
