I had this Serger for about 2 years before I started to use it. My biggest complaint is with the inadequacy pf the accompanying manual. It is not at all clear how a beginner would thread the machine. The CD that came with it just gave ideas for projects but no significant explanations about how to get started. Now that I am using it (after two friends helped me learn how to thread it) I have found it to be not only useful, but an indispensable part of my sewing routine. At times, I wonder how I got along without it. After getting past the first hurtle, I have found it is easy and practical to use. It is easy to install and remove the stitch finger. The other control buttons are not difficult to adjust, although I like the idea of keeping a thread/tension journal rather than relearning each time. The maintenance suggestions and the proper needle suggestions are important parts of the manual.

Great machine

My husband surprised me with this serger and I really like it. It's easy to use and works really well. I love that it has a removable arm in order to serge sleeves. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a cutting width guide to sew perfectly consistent seam allowances. The only guides are several unmarked notches to the right of the needle. I find them difficult to use to get a consistent and exact seam allowance. If a movable cutting width guide was added to this machine, it'd be the perfect machine!

I am pleased with the condition of the machine and it's set up. Each thread was color coordinated to ensure complete understanding of the threading system. I first used the machine with the color coordinated threads to be one familiar. I then proceeded to unthread the second needle and adjusted the machine to test it's functions. I then easily rethreaded the machine in a single color, easily and quickly. The only thing I was not used to was having the presser foot lever on the right of the machine. It felt usual at first but the design makes sense now that I have used the machine. I am pleased with the way the machine performs. A friend purchased this exact server and came by so I could help her learn to use it and is also very pleased.

AFTER OWNING OTHER SERGERS I WAS VERY OVERJOYED WITH THE EASE WITH WHICH I LEARNED THE OPERATION OF THIS MACHINE. ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM THREADING AND ADJUSTING FOR MY PROJECTS WITH EXCELLANT RESULTS. BEEN SEWING FOR OVER 60 YEARS!

Inexpensive but great quality serger!
