The Best Spinosaurus to Date

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’re a parent like me with a dinosaur obsessed child, odds are that you have a few of Mattel’s Jurassic World toys floating about. My son is a huge Jurassic World fan, and the Spinosaurus is one of, if not his top favorite dinosaur. Now normally I think the Hammond Collection is geared toward adults, but ever since he got the Hammond T-Rex one Christmas, he’s been wanting to get his favorite dinos in that collection. As he puts it, he really likes “how articulated they are” (which I’m sure is a product of both his mom and dad being toy collectors). So we played with this thing for days, and he put it through its paces. He’s more careful with his toys now than when he was younger, but he still likes the dinos to bite and fight each other, and terrorize the human figures. The jaws open a huge amount, easily big enough to clamp down on the neck of his Hammond Giganotosaurus and T-Rex. The tongue is moveable so you can put it in different positions, and the teeth are a soft material, so they won't damage whatever they are biting on, and won't get damaged in turn since they are a separate piece and not painted plastic. The eyes have the awesome acrylic design that makes them look like they are actually following you, and it was so fun watching him pretend like the Spino was tracking prey. One thing I as the parent was really pleased with was the hips. He has the original blue Spino and the Extreme Chompin Spino, and both have a very hard time standing up due to the hips wearing out. They have to be put back leaning against the side of his shelf because they were constantly falling over and taking out all my hard word of getting his toys put away. The Hammond Spino hips are sturdy, they move just fine and aren't stiff, but I don't have to worry about them giving out. This Spino instantly took the top spot for him, and it doesn’t feel out of place with his more basic dinos, even though it’s more of a collector piece. So if you're looking for a good Spinosaurus to blend in with other dinos, or be the leader of a Spinosaurus pack, you don't need to worry that it looks out of place.
The paint on this is plentiful and very well done. The claws on both hands and feet are nicely painted, and the different paints and washes really bring out the sculpt. Which is probably one of the best I’ve been when it comes to giving the illusion of leathery dino skin. This would be an absolute must for any collector of the Jurassic World toys, but the thing I value most is that even if it’s a collector toy, it should still be fun to play with. If there’s too much articulation, or too much paint, or too much of any one thing, often those items become statues in our collections, posed once and then not moved. The Hammond Collection Spinosaurus has a really great balance of being both a nice display item if you’re not the type of person that likes to move them, but if you are then it also serves as a great toy to play with. There’s just enough articulation to be highly poseable, but not overly fussy, and I don’t feel like I have to worry about the paint chipping or anything breaking if my son wants to make the Spino have a go with the T-Rex. It’s also a big toy, which for the asking price I feel like it’s a very good bargain for the money (bigger than both the Hammond T-Rex and Giga). I highly recommend it and I can’t wait to see what else is coming.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Spinosaurus is huge and awesome! The details are amazing. This is the Hammond Collection Spinosaurus from Jurassic Park III. She’s over 2 feet long from nose to tail. She has several points of articulation and stands on two feet without having to balance on her tail. Some nice touches include “soft” jaws, a long movable tongue, and a bendable tail. She’s so posable that you can put her into a quiet “predator” mode or explode into a “monster” mode. This dinosaur is seriously cool and would be a great gift for any dinosaur enthusiast!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got the Jurassic World Hammond Collection (XL Dino) and it’s one of the best toys we've ever had! It’s HUGE and looks just like the dinosaur from the movie Jurassic World Dominion. The teeth are super sharp-looking (but not real sharp, don’t worry!) and its mouth opens really wide like it’s about to chomp something. My son always makes it fight the T-Rex and this one wins almost every time!
The skin looks so real and bumpy, and I love the colors—it’s kind of dark green with some cool stripes. It even stands up by itself, and you can move its legs, arms, mouth, and tail to make it do all kinds of action poses. My son made a whole dino jungle in his room with this guy as the boss of all the other dinos.
If you like dinosaurs and Jurassic World, you need this guy! It’s awesome and we play with it every single day.

The Spino Terrorizes Isla Sorna

This figure is if not the most anticipated figure of all Jurassic Franchise fans or maybe Dinosaur fans in general. Glad that Mattel finally made this figure came true, and I must say that it's absolutely incredible. Even tho... The sail lack of the blue coloration, but it's not a big deal. I tried to paint the sail and I'm quite satisfied with the result, even if it's not screen accurate tho.

Spinosaurus Attack!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Spinosaurus is larger than my grandson thought. It has neat glass eyes, lots of teeth and is very realistic looking. He enjoys moving the dinosaur legs and positioning him in attack mode with his handmade forest of cardboard and holds his interestfor hours on end. The colors are very vibrant. He is looking forward to collecting the other dinosaurs so they can battle each other.

Much bigger than you'd expect!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kiddo was excited about this. It was MUCH MUCH bigger than expected. They were excited to show their cousin who also loves dinosaurs but unfortunately it wasn’t suitable for a younger child and the neck articulation pinched his cousin’s finger. They did like how realistic it was- the glowy green eyes and the mouth opens all the way which is perfect for pretend play. Outside of the articulation, I wonder with this level of detail if it’s more meant to be displayed vs played with. plain donut or piece of cake

A dinosaur worthy of collectors

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I played with dinosaurs a lot when I was a kid, so when I saw this Spinosaurus I was immediately intrigued. As a fan of both the Jurassic Park Jurassic World series, this dinosaur immediately stood out to me as a collector's piece. When you look at the eyes and attention to detail with the paint, you are immediately blown away. There are so many articulating points on this dinosaur, from the way the arms move, legs move, and even the tail has multiple points at which you can position it. It is truly high quality, but feels more in line for a collector than your average dinosaur-loving child.

Poor quality

Horrible quality. The minute we unboxed it, a foot fell off. Days later an arm is falling off. This was a birthday gift for my 8 year old and it is a huge disappointment. This was an expensive purchase and not worth it. My child wanted this for long time and he is very frustrated with things falling off all of the time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
