Great machine. Impressed by the enormous amount of suction it produces. Picks up all dog hair and undercoat in a single pass.

Its definitely not your standard vacuum wasnt aware Dyson was the IKEA of vacuums..aside from it being Sturdy, its strong reliable decent. Not a regret at 400$ on sale

Not enough suction control

Yes, the suction is astonishing!!! Waited All My Life for that! BUT, it's so strong that if the LEAST suction setting is not used, the beater-head vacuum-seals to the carpet and falls off. The clip mechanism for the beater-head to the vacuum body is completely flimsy and insufficient in relation to the enormous suction it must endure. Carrying the vacuum very, very, carefully up the stairs (treating it like the delicate princess that it is), the head slightly bumps a soft, carpeted stair, and FALLS OFF. The attachment clip is just insufficient! So, we will keep it. But treat it like a delicate royal guest that must be fussed over and deferred to in every circumstance. Yes, the suction is astonishing!!! Where is Dyson testing and quality control?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
