I really love this sound bar! I bought it because of the slim design because I hate bulky things and I must say, for a bar so thin , it packs great quality sound and the little woofer shakes everything in my house. I'm always exited to hear it everyday when I watch a movie. I definitely recommend this bar to everyone!.

I received this system just before the Super Bowl. Wow, what a great way to enjoy the game!! The sound enhancement makes all of or viewing so much more enjoyable. Combining this sound system with our new QLED 65" was best move we've made.
BTW, Samsung should reference a link to the Youtube video for installation. Such a breeze to do after watching that.

Great, when working

Works great... when it is on and connected. I have a Samsung Frame TV and initially it would turn on with the TV, but stopped. Every time I turn on the TV, I have to unplug then plug the soundbar back in to get it to turn on. Tried updating firmware (on bar and TV), reseting it, changing HDMI wire. Some of these seemed to work for a couple of days (soundbar would turn on with TV), but quickly stopped. Very frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for sharing your review of the HW-S801B Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are experiencing this issue.
If you have not yet, do a hard reset. With the Soundbar on, press the + & - Volume buttons on the body of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. The LED display changes as follows: White moves from left to right and right to left, and the middle LED blinks Cyan 3 times. Then the middle LED will blink RED and turn off.
If your Soundbar is still experiencing this issue where it is not turning on with the TV, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for Soundbars), available 8 AM – 12 AM EST, 7 days a week.

Great concept but flawed software

It’s a great concept and sound fantastic for its size when it works. Unfortunately it partially disconnects from the wireless TV sync every single time the TV sleeps/Art Mode. Sometimes it doesn’t give you volume control via remote but says it’s connected, other times it reverts to TV speakers since it’s not connected at all. Also it’s advertised as being the perfect pairing with The Frame but the included audio cable isn’t long enough to connect to the One box forcing you to use wifi with FrameTVs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The HW-S801B uses a micro-HDMI cable, if you are able please check with your local Best Buy to see if they have longer cables for purchase.
Next, let's make sure that you are running the latest firmware available for your soundbar and TV.
You can download the firmware update directly from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Theater” > “Home Theater” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the HW-S801B under S Series.
For your TV, you can check firmware by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now.

Impressive for thr size

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sound is very impressive for the size, but the mids tend to be a bit lacking. Not surprising given how small the speakers are though. The sub is very powerful and can easily overtake the sound stage if the setting is too high. In the end I returned this set for the larger Q800B since I didn't have a space constraints. The Q800B seems to have better balance. But, if you are limited on space or want to wall mount the speaker, the S800B is a great option.
