First smart watch

Does everything it is supposed to and lives up to expectations. Not too difficult to learn and navigate features. Could use better quick start instruction manual. Have learned most features by trial and error pushing buttons.

Great low-mid range running watch

I have been loving my forerunner 255 music. The Connect IQ app has tons of data features, and allows you to customize routes and your data screens. My favorite feature though has been the automated recommendations for running workouts based on my ongoing averages, my health metrics, and even my sleep score to assess what I should focus on for training on a given day, in pursuit of my goals. I set a new 10mile PR, following yh watch recommendations over two months, dropping nearly 4 minutes to a 1:06:40 pace, based on the same race from last year.
If I had to offer a critique, it's that this watch doesn't have quite as many preprogrammed activities as my wife's Garmin Venu 3s. I knew I was buying a running orientated watch, so I'm not really surprised, but I think it's worth knowing if you're not looking for that. The watch also lets you sync automatically to Strava, which I love, but for any custom activities that you create, the synced activity defaults to the template activity you used.
I have personally used it climbing indoor and out, running outdoors a lot, kayaking, sailing, cycling, and walking. I have run hundreds of miles with it, and used it in every race this spring. The PacePro tool has been an essential tool for monitoring my pacing strategy through the race.

Musc and data

Does everything I need for running, MTB, surf and ski.
I only use music while running because I don't want to carry a phone.
would be 5 stars, but I've had to uninstall and reinstall and re-sync music a few times. Navigating My Music to select music to sync is a slow process and syncing takes time. Other than that good function.
Recording epic days will pull lots of battery. 6-8 hour recording with a course being displayed can leave you close to dead battery.

Does everything I need and works well!
Used in triathlon training and racing. Sleep function works well. Sometimes music lags. Training details are accurate and work well.

Does everything I need it to, being able to listen to music on a run without a phone is particularly great.

I got this watch to track runs and keep my phone at home. The watch is a little clunky to operate at times but it works well after you figure it out.
