Samsung Q990F soundbar

I do my research before buying so after much research on this, I decided to purchase it. I have an LG G3 TV so I needed something that had great sound, better than the previous LG soundbar that I was using, and something that would still be compatible with my non-Samsung TV. I needed the TV remote to be able to control the sound volume with the TV remote even though it was a different brand. I needed something that had better bass level and smoother surround sound also. My expectations were sky high. I’m an engineer by trade. The reviews I read were greatly positive however there were a few negative reviews that I read that did not make sense to me based on all the other positive reviews. When I unboxed it, I set up the surround speakers first, placing them on speaker stands that I purchased separately from Amazon. My room is rectangular, 15ft wide and 23 ft long from the front to the back of the room. I angled the surrounds so each speaker was aimed toward the main listening position and was also angled to reflect off the side walls to disperse the sound nicely. I had to purchase one extension cord for one of the speakers to get to the power source and protector on the other side of the room where the other surround speaker was mounted. I wasn’t about to connect any of the speakers to unprotected power in event of a surge or power hit or lightening. After that, I connected the main soundbar under the wall mounted tv on the tv stand, and then connected the subwoofer near the front corner of the room, left of the TV. Both the soundbar and subwoofer were protected as well the same way the surrounds were. Never connect your expensive electronics directly to the wall power. When I turned on the TV, the soundbar system turned on as well and the speakers were already paired with one another. I had done my research and made sure the settings on my LG TV were set correctly to use a non-LG soundbar. I tested various audio sources, Prime and Netflix via the firestick l, TV programs, 4k BluRay, all worked flawlessly. I have a setup in another room with a projector and separate speakers and I’m familiar with how certain movies should sound when I demo them. My expectations were sky high and I’m very glad to say, my expectations were not only met, they were exceeded, bigtime! There were movies that I had demoed on the previous LG soundbar that sounded good but not great. I got used to that and resigned myself to the fact that that was as good as a soundbar would get. It would never approach the quality of sound that I have in my other room with a much more expensive speaker setup. Well I was happy to be wrong. I played the usual suspects, 4k versions of Titanic, Avatar, Gran Turismo, Top Gun Maverick, and many many other movies. I heard things that I never heard on the previous setup but could hear on the setup in the other room using a much more expensive setup. The bass was phenomenal and all the more impressive considering the subwoofer was a bit smaller that the older LG one I was previously using. The surround was smoother and more integrated. The entire experience sounded eerily similar to the sound that I was accustomed to in the other room. The only problem I had was trying to connect the soundbar to the Smart Things app initially. Eventually I was able to connect and have control of the sound and settings via the phone app. The soundbar remote control is a nice touch. You can adjust the volume level and tweak the speaker settings, subwoofer levels etc with ease. I am very satisfied with the whole experience.

This Samsung Q990F soundbar sounds fantastic!! I'm glad I purchased this one to match up with the 85" Samsung TV that was also purchased. Thanks goes out to the Samsung Rep I talked to & explained everything I needed to know to make up my mind ..... I love it!!

Easy. Good sound

Very easy to set up. Works best with Samsung TV (may seem obvious but we first bought an LG speaker system and it gave crappy sound with our Samsung TV. This one is so much better)
