Great Lights… With One Caveat

I really think the world of Govee after using their Permanent, Curtain, and Christmas lights for the majority of my indoor and outdoor Christmas lighting this year.
Here are some pictures of how I used them outside.
Positives:
They bring a lot of the features formerly only possible with the use of expensive controllers and pixel LEDs to the average consumer. The Christmas lights are bright, easy to manage, and come with a litany of cool effects. They are also safe for outside use, so they are versatile.
Negatives:
There is one big drawback to them (and one feature that would be nice, but which is not a drawback per se)… the inability to daisy chain these lights is really unfortunate. The power adapter is very large, and if you are using multiple strings you will need a lot of spaced outlets to power them. For example, I built a 10' LED cone tree out of PVC to put in the yard. In order to light the tree with vertical strings, it took five 66ft strings and one 33ft. That necessitated six power adapter connections. Each of which is ~2.5"wide and ~4"tall. I can't imagine why Govee doesn't provide the option to connect multiple strings. If it is a voltage droop issue they could provide power injection and if it is data signal degradation they could provide an amplifier. The only other thing critique I have is that these are smart LEDs with a controller that leverages their integrated circuits to allow for independent control of each light. Therefore, the capacity to control each individual LED is there, but Govee does not provide this feature.
To summarize:
These lights are the best you can get to have a near professional light show without needing the technical ability to build a controller and configure software. The main drawback is the inability to daisy chain them. The price is also quite high, and if you intend on decorating outside with 5-10 strings you'll end up paying close to what you would for professional equipment (if you have the knowledge on how to use one).

Love these lights. Not only do I have them on my Christmas tree but I used them for outside lighting around my windows! Inexpensive and so easy to use. Plus so many lighting options. I've used them for Valentines and now they are programmed for St Patty!

Awesome "Christmas" lights

I purchased two sets of the Govee string lights to replace the lights on an outdoor Christmas tree frame. They look great! I can see using them for many additional holidays in addition to Christmas. I have the two sets synced using Groups on the Govee app, and they are running the 'Santa Claus' scene, which provides red and white lights with gold lights running through.

I tested the string prior to install and they worked great. Installed app and tested the string and worked from app. Installed the string of lights and only a quarter of the string would function. So I took them back down....(a 2.5hr job to put up and 1hr to take down half the string as they were going to be permanent.) They started to work again so I carefully re-installed the lights while they were on. Everything worked great. The next night they stopped workin again. The only thing I can deduct was that the wiring within the string is so delicate that any kind of kink or twist by being installed causes it to not function. They work great, but the construction of the actual string of lights is not really conducive to outdoor use IMO. Maybe a tree or some inside application where not a lot of manipulation is required. Overall I got a refund and I am not able to use the lights at all for outdoor applications.

Not worth the price

I have purchased 2 100 foot strands to place behind some alcohol bottles at my bar. Both times half of the strand stopped working within a couple months. I had them on timers they were never manipulated. Taped them down and turned them on and still shorted out within a couple of months. Not worth the price.
