Adhesive is not very good.
It does not let you customize it by splicing

This was my first LED light installation and I did a lot of research before purchasing. I was confused by all the options and the wide price range. I finally decided on the Govee Strip Light 2 Pro. They were more expensive than some of the other options, but I was installing them in recessed Crown Molding and I wanted them to last. These lights seemed heavy duty with a thick rubberized coating over the entire strip. This coating really looks like it will protect them for a long time. I cannot rate the longevity of the lights, as I just installed them, but I am hoping they will be worth the extra money in the long run. The app has so many options for the lighting, you can really make them do whatever you want. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Govee Strip Light 2 Pro – A Smart Lighting Upgrade That Shines Under Every Step
on September 3, 2025

I finally finished my custom install for the Govee Strip Light 2 Pro under my outdoor three stair treads, and I’m genuinely impressed by both the product’s capabilities and how well it adapted to my custom setup.
WARNING: do not try this unless you are ready to invest in the additional items required and void the warranty. I trimmed the 5-meter length into three segments, carefully aligning each one under the stair lip. The adhesive backing held firm, and the spool design made layout trials easy before committing.

Once installed, the lights transformed the staircase into a dynamic visual feature. The Govee app offers granular control over brightness, color scenes, and even sound-reactive modes. I’ve synced them to a subtle gradient that shifts with ambient noise—it's elegant, not gimmicky.
Beyond the tech specs, what makes this setup special is how seamlessly it blends form and function. The stairs now serve as both a safety feature and a design statement. The color blending is smooth, and the whites are crisp—no harsh edges or flickering. It’s rare to find a product that’s this customizable without sacrificing quality.
If you're looking for a smart light strip that can handle precision cuts, deliver rich colors, and elevate your space, the Govee Strip Light 2 Pro is worth the investment. It’s not just lighting—it’s atmosphere, control, and a touch of creativity underfoot.

You have to register an email address to use the app if you want to control the lights. Of course I should have expected this, ridiculous.
