Audio game-changer

Apple doesn’t stream with Bluetooth; they load the music and present the entire dataset through their unparalleled processing power.

Another Apple Product

The fact that is is made out of aluminium makes it much heavier on your head and more tiring. Which is exactly why 90% of headphones do not use metal and stick with plastic.
These were presented as the "best possibility audio sound" by apple (their words) but yet bluetooth is no where near as close.
They should go into the lower power mode as soon as I take them off not force me to put it into the ugly purse/bra case.
The biggest gripe is I cannot update the firmware without a Apple product.
Otherwise they are good,
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best Bluetooth Headphones

These are best, yes they are pricey but Apple is not forcing anyone to buy these. If these fall in your budget then buy otherwise Sony & Bose have headphones with 90% of this quality at half the price. But if you care about that 5-10% better sound, amazing build quality, ecosystem integration and great customer service from Apple, then it's a no brainer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

overpriced get the xm4 instead

i have both headphones the brand new apple airpods max as well as the xm4.
the sound is a tad better on the apple headphones (on higher volume) but not double the price better.

as far as comfort and battery go, the xm4 beats apple out of the water.
Noise-canceling is about the same.
these are nice to have but the xm4 would do the trick for half the price.

Great headphone with some annoying lack of design consideration. Some consideration:
Strengths:
* Great sound
* Like the Siri integration. For example, when you get an iMessage Siri will narrate the message to you and allow you to respond
* Good build
* Good noise cancellation

Weaknesses
First of all everyone knows about the case issue but it is much more than that.
a) Lack of soft power switch is an issue. When I get home from a run, I have to put them into the case to turn them off and not have my phone automatically route calls to my Airpod Max
b) If you don't seat the headphones into the case it does not turn it into low power mode. On multiple occasions I wanted to take the headphone for a run and they were discharged even though they were in the case.
c) No warning for when it runs out of battery, without keeping an eye on the battery meter
d) As a product with these design issues, is over-priced. More mature brands (Bose, Sony) do not have these 101 issues.

The most noticeable thing (besides the price tag), is the build quality. After taking off my Sony XM4s and putting these on, the build quality is excellent. They feel premium and they are comfortable (once you find the right spot on your head). The lack of an included cable was only frustrating for me because I use a Windows desktop for work and wanted to plug them in. Easy to just buy the cable. For anyone looking for true wireless, the lack of a cable is irrelevant.
Sound quality is on par with Sony’s. I’m not an audiophile, but for me there’s a noticeable difference in the mids. Sounds less “muddy.”
The Digital Crown is perfect, wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s easy and convenient, don’t have to hope you’re touching invisible touch buttons.
My Nieces would love this, My Question is why are people not buying the Pink color? No review why? I haven't seen it on anyone yet either.
It should look good on my niece. Since she loved everything she uses rare.

Better than I expected

These headphones are amazing, I hesitated lots before getting them because of negative reviews, but when I tried them on at the Apple store, I decided to get them. They are heavy but they are very comfortable (they fit my small head whereas the Sony xm4s did not. The noise cancelling is amazing and so is the sound quality. The only thing I wish were better is that the battery; it drains about 8% overnight, in the case.
I would recommend this to a friend!
