the triathletes cheaper Fenix 7

The Garmin 955 is a great item for the runner, triathlete and cyclist. I have had trialed both the Epix and the Fenix and those had features I just don't use. For me, an avid runner and cyclist, the 955 is great in tracking my training. I will say that I don't find myself using the touch screen that much but for someone who is obsessed with data this watch is perfect. The training effect feature is one of the most helpful additions of the 955. Is it worth the upgrade over the 255? Eh maybe. I do wish the battery life was better, but it is good enough for me. The solar option looks great, however most solar options are dimmed in the screen. If you want the best screen, go for the Epix. Just know you sacrifice even more battery life with that one.

Perfect watch for running!

This watch is an excellent running watch and is loaded with features beyond running itself.
One of the quickest things I noticed is how light this watch is! If you are a competitive runner who worries about all extra weight, this is a great option. Despite being physically light, it is loaded with features and also has great battery life.
If you tend to go off-trail in your adventures, or are a multi-season and multi-sport adventure athlete, you may want to look at the fenix line, but for a runner who dabbles in outdoor adventures, this will serve very well and even contains many features that you find on a fenix, such as maps!

All the features

I purchased this to replace my 735XT and all I can say is "wow!"
If you are using any of the 45 series, I cannot speak to jump from those, but coming from a 35 series, the updates are dramatic. The information seems overwhelming at first, but I have quickly grown to love it.
I've only had it about a month and have put around 150 miles or so on it now, but have zero complaints so far. The interface is spectacular, the customization is top notch, and the ease of use is a token of Garmin. Having owned several Garmin watches, Suuntos, and an Apple Watch, I would be hard pressed to ever leave the Garmin family again now.

Great watch so far. Replaced my 935 and it just feels better. Touchscreen is nice but not a factor.
Just another solid Garmin product

Awesome Watch

I previously had the Forerunner 245 Music. The 955 offers much more insight on running than my 245 did. I get more data about sleep, Heat Acclimation, and Heart Rate Variability. This helps me see how my body is reacting to my training better. Garmin Pay has been clutch too. Overall, very happy with this new watch!

A great upgrade

I bought the 955 as an upgrade and replacement for my 645 when the battery on the 645 started to go. By the numbers, the screen doesn't seem much larger but it is notably easier to read, the sleep score, body battery, and other new heart rate based features provide interesting insights. The GPS is extremely accurate and I haven't even turned on the multi-band. I've accidently smacked it on a few doorways without a mark on it. Highly recommend this watch.

I really love the 955 since it's a bit more rugged but it isn't as bulky as the Fenix. It completes all the necessary tasks while having a very good battery life

Good enough

Had a few issues here and there with workout recording. The battery life is exceptional….. as long as you don’t have the hr monitor running. Turn the screen brightness down, and have a very simple watch face if you want to take advantage of the battery life. Could be better overall but salvageable.
