Excellent multi sport watch

Just used this watch for my first 70.3 half Ironman and got excellent data from it. It was worth the price and the battery held on strong and still had 60% remaining at the end of the race. There wasn't anything that i would say went wrong with the watch and really found that it was a do it all watch and at a very reasonable price point.
As someone who started with a Forerunner 55, the 955 was a big upgrade and allowed me to complete a half Ironman without worrying about my watch.

This watch feels like a compact supercomputer that will give any data junkie their fix. Tons of customization options, especially when paired with the Garmin app and store. Took the better part of an evening to get all the screens and hot keys set up to my liking, but since then it's been super simple and intuitive to track activities, set timers, and more.
Fairly large face may not be comfortable for folks with daintier wrists. Easy to swap bands. Really impressive battery life.

Perfect Triathlon Watch

I have absolutely zero complaints about or knocks against this watch after now months of use. The buttons and interface took a second to get used to, having never had a Garmin watch before, but Garmin has tons of helpful resources to onboard new customers to the device. From an actual use perspective, the watch has been perfect for my marathon and triathlon training. The ability to create and load custom workouts makes following my training plan seamless, and the haptic feedback and ability to operate independent of my phone while on a run makes for both a gear-free feeling and an incredibly easy experience sticking to the session plan for the day.

Garmin delivers a winner

I am upgrading from a Fenix 3, so this was a big advancement forward in time. The weight of the Fenix series is too heavy for me for a daily driver. Plus, the plastic composite bodies of the top sports watches now are pretty bomb proof. So, the 955 was a great choice. It has a lot of the functionality of the Fenix 7 at a far cheaper price point. If you don't need maps, music, etc, the 255 is actually an amazing value as well. The metrics as far as HRV, sleep, recovery and so on, seem relatively on point. There is some data that I take with a grain of salt. But, it at least gives me a ball park. It has been great for cycling, which is my primary activity. Battery is solid and I like MIPS display over OLED. Just my preference. Overall, I would highly recommend this watch to anyone who loves working out, being outside, and likes to geek out a bit on data. In the future, I may splurge on an Enduro 2. But, for now this watch is really awesome!!

Love it but, had I known, I would have waited for the AMOLED 965

I upgraded from an earlier model for the dual-band GPS. The accuracy of the 955 is worth the cost. In most situations, even around tall buildings and on tree-covered streets, I can tell on which side of the street I ran. The watch is also more responsive than any prior Garmin I have owned. Acquiring a GPS signal is quick, and downloading routes and uploading activities is nearly instantaneous. It is when following a route that the GPS accuracy really shines. Too often in the past, I'd find myself backtracking to a missed turn. This has not happened since I received the 955. My only regret is not waiting a month and seeing the 965 released. The 955 screen is clear, but the larger, brighter display of the 965 would make this the perfect lightweight running watch.

First Forerunner, so far perfect.

Couldn't be happier with this watch. It's surprisingly thin/light and the battery life is perfect-a 1 hour run drains about 10% with gps + music. Happy I can leave my phone at home now but still get Strava data. I was looking for a good substitute for Whoop that didn't have a subscription plan and it covers all Whoop stats. Looks good for daily wear. Interface is a little challenging at first but fine when you get used to it. Mostly use it for running but surprisingly also works as a great golf tool, essentially its a rangefinder on your wrist (this feature doesn't drain much battery, either). Garmin coach is also a nice bonus for keeping me on track with plan-specific workouts. Could easily see myself keeping this for 4-5 years before upgrading.
