I finally got this today, thrilled there is a button on the sleeve to hold the flag's tab in place, but to get there.....all other poles I have had, the finial screws off. This finial had a screw in it and it was wobbly loose so, I unscrewed it. Only to find that the screw is not permanently in place. Once the finial was off, the screw fell down the tube. Now I had to remove the bottom plastic plug to get the screw out of the pole. The base of the finial seems attached with some tiny screw, to the pole, the screw head is INSIDE to pole. No way to get to it. So now I have a pole with no finial on it. The one I have had for over 20 years is aluminum, just like this, no rubber stays, no hook on a ring, and it worked perfectly until that button fell out of the sleeve. Let's take it back a notch on the design here. Reminded me a design project I had in college where we had to design a piece of furniture that looked good, seemed a great idea but did not actually function well. It was to get us to think of the big picture and look at every detail. This pole falls in that catagory.
