In order to compare apples to apples I opted for and old standby. The 3-2-1 pork spare rib smoke. Executed countless times on my old smoker. 2 racks of ribs covers with my favorite rub (it’s mine, sorry…get your own). Set the smoker up at 225 DegF…temp control on this smoker is great. Monitored on the app and had a 2-3 DegF deviation and the majority of the time dead on 225. The result…WOW…WOW…All I can say is…WOW!!! The Z Grill definitely showed its colors. Temperature control spot on. Speaking of the App…it needs some work…nothing that other reviews haven’t pointed out. Work on some updates. Next smoke will be some beef cheeks (Barbacoa!!!). This is a definite upgrade from my Pit Boss…
This smoker has been a 5‑star addition to my backyard cooking setup. It comes up to temperature quickly, holds it rock solid, and the readings are always accurate. The large pellet hopper easily handles long cooks without refills, and cleanup is straightforward. I use this smoker once every few weeks and is highly reliable. I purchased in March of 2023.
The grill works well, not so much the wifi app. One of the primary reasons I bought this model was for the convenience of monitoring the grill over WiFi using their app.
I'm not sure if it's the grill hardware that has issues or the app but sometimes I lose connection to the grill in the middle of using it and can't get it to function for the rest of the time I'm cooking. That's a big let down for me.
I had bought the 450-b at a black Friday deal 5 years ago. Loved it so much that I bought the 11002b and love this grill even more. The options and how much you can cook is crazy. The wifi is a added bonus and bigger hopper for over night cooks. Biggest pro, hood comes insulated. If you live in the north you can smoke on this thing and have no problems
I have used this grill multiple times. Love it so far. I’ve cooked ribs, burgers, pork chops,Tri-tip and a bone in pork shoulder. Everything has come out pretty good. Only had a few issues during assembly one wheel didn’t want to screw in the leg had to retap the hole and had to unscrew a wheel to make unit level both easy fixes for the mechanically inclined
