It IS rugged

If you are planning to drop your phone off a 3 story roof, toss it over a bridge into the river by accident, drop it into a bucket of drywall mud or the dog's water bowl (all of which actually happened) and still have it work, then this is the phone for you. If you had to give up your perfect Mororola Razr for this heavy thing, you will not be happy. All I want is a phone with decent sound quality that doesn't drop calls. I found the sound quality very poor on the Rugby and using my bluetooth impossible, as the sound was so poor. It also weighed a ton and was very bulky so impossible to carry around in my jeans pocket without looking like I had a lump of coal in there. If you are a lumberjack, it will be perfect. If you are a woman that carries your phone around in your pants pocket, forget it.
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable
Cons: Too big, poor audio

Reception is quite good. Battery life was spotty at first, but is great now, probably because I recharge overnight several times a week. I detest the PTP button since I abhor the whole concept. Wish I could disable it completely! The texting process has been a pain to re-learn (my previous Nokias were GREAT!) The address book also suffers when compared to Nokia features. Since AT&T has little are no Nokia selections I picked this instead. I am mostly happy with it but not extremely... it works and I'm getting used to its quirks.
Pros: Durable
Cons: Did not meet expectations
I would recommend this to a friend!

AWESOME Phone

Today, my Rugby got run over by a car. No lie, it got dropped and then run over by a Suzuki hatchback. It still functions perfectly. This is a TANK of a phone.
Truly the only cell phone that I've ever been happy with, and the major reason why I will not own a smart phone until there are no other options.
It is annoyingly easy to activate the push-to-talk feature, which I do not use, and the internet function likes to turn itself on, despite my not subscribing to the service. Other than that, the phone is perfect.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, bombproof
Cons: ptt function is annoying
I would recommend this to a friend!

This phone has many good features, I don't care for there placement, They are kind of confusing.
The camera button should be where the GPS button is...
Price was good, Took to long to get to me, Customer Service was very good. =)
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, lanyard loop
Cons: placement of camera button
I would recommend this to a friend!

I went to this particular phone because of the rugged features and convenient size more suitable for trekking and camping than the full view types. Less likely to become damaged in pack or pocket.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, tough
Cons: no canadian registration

I just upgraded from a Samsung A777 to this Samsung Rugby II and am very pleased with it's functions, durability.and battery life. The only hang up is the PTT button that others have commented about. But I was able to re-capture all of my contacts and photos with this upgrade which was the reason I chose Samsung again.
This is my third Samsung Cell Phone and by far the best.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable
Cons: ptt button placement
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Design, Features, and Durablitlity, Poor Water Resistant Qualities

The Samsung Rugby II, for me was a nice phone. I was really excited when I unboxed it. I thought it was perfect for my rough and active lifestyle. I am always hiking, and traveling. My phones were always getting broken. The features were great, simple, easy to use, and was very pleased. It's not a fancy smart phone, but still a joy to have. I have accidentally dropped it a few times, no problems whatsoever. Tested it in water, again no problem, until it came to the day I was recording my friends and myself at a competition. I checked my phone before I put my phone just barely under the surface of the water, not even an inch. Many times before I showed off to my friends and dropped it in 5 feet of water and no problem. During my recording, my Rugby started acting up, and I though it wasn't a big deal, maybe just a glitch, then it froze, and died. I removed it from the surface, dried the outside, and opened it up to find a huge stream of water pour from my phone. I was quite upset. If Samsung could improve the seals, and the cover, this I would buy no other phone but this.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, durable even after falling from pocket from tree., the size of buttons, good grip, display size, camera and its features, sound quality and loudness
Cons: Did not meet expectations, did not meet water resistant specification., battery cover falls off when dropped on hard surf.
I would recommend this to a friend!
