It does exactly what I want. No annoying whistling. Can just turn it back on with remaining water or add more. No worrying about the inside rusting and affecting the quality of the water.
Haven’t tried descaling yet but it seems simple enough to do.

I'm hoping the 1L electric kettle lasts longer. I had the above for 3 years and developed a hairline fracture in the glass near the base.
