Or purchase the older model without the proportional sensor and it's a much better unit. That's the one I bought that's the one I would like.

Pump dispenses when hands nowhere near it!

Overall, I like the changes that simplehuman has implemented to this pump over their previous designs. The new charger is much better than the previous micro-USB design, which failed on my last pump. I also like the large opening on top for filling the pump, and the variable dispensing based on hand height. However, this pump has a serious flaw. It will dispense when my hands are nowhere near the nozzle! I will be washing dishes in the middle of my sink, and the pump will just start dispensing! It makes a mess of my sink, and wastes soap! I have to turn off the pump to prevent this, which defeats the purpose of this product in the first place. I have submitted a support case, and if simplehuman cannot adjust the sensitivity on the sensor, I will be returning the product.

To prevent false triggers, simply polish the tinted sensor window with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. Sometimes fingerprints or soap residue seeps onto the sensor and inadvertently triggers the infrared sensor.

Love our new sensor pump! It fits in perfectly with our modern, stainless steel appliances and fixtures. And it’s great not to have to worry about touching the pump if you’ve been handling meat or chicken.
