Not up to SH standards

This is a beautiful unit and brings automated soap dispensing to the household. Unfortunately, it is not very intuitive. People must acknowledge that it’s automated, then know to put their hands unnaturally low (like 1/3 of the way up from the bottom) if they want to get the equivalent of a normal squirt on their hands. Otherwise, you get a pea’s worth of soap and need to keep repeating the process. Half the time it doesn’t immediately recognize your hands and you have to keep working with it. The other half of the time, you’ll walk to your sink and the unit will have squirted soap out for no reason onto the countertop. My unit failed about 9 months in and I got a replacement. Same issues with erroneously shooting my $$ L’Occitane soap into the sink daily... Overall I wish SH would remove the feature which dispenses varying amounts of soap based on how high the hands are. Things should be intuitive for guests. They should work the first time. Overall, below their usual standards. But still the best hands free dispenser and a solid brand. Own all their other products.
It's an awesome product and it works well but my experience is that it's charging system/design fails after a period of time. Believe me, I have owned (4) in the past (4) years - simplehuman has replaced (2) at no charge - -service is great.

At simplehuman we are always working to create more efficient and durable products. We meticulously design and extensively test all of our items to ensure that they look great and work well for many years. We take all feedback seriously and any issues are always brought to the attention of our Product Development team so that we can make any necessary improvements.
We had our first soap pump for long enough to get spoiled to having it on the counter. When it stopped working, I almost threw it away and bought something else. I did end up contacting the manufacturer and found it was under warranty. They inspected it then replaced it at no charge. First class company, first class product.
We bought this & after 3 months, it quit working. I returned it to the company & after checking on it, they sent me a new one. I love that you don't have to touch it, but hope this one lasts longer. I don't like that it doesn't let you know WHEN it needs charged or when it IS charged. There is a blue light on it, but it never changes. I wish it would go red when needing charged & back to blue WHEN charged. If this one lasts any time, I will buy one for my bathroom.

Our 9 oz. sensor pump is designed to indicate 3 red blinks when it needs to be recharged. While charging it will blink blue and turn to a solid blue when fully charged.
I couldn’t imagine spending this much on a soap dispenser, BUT if you can, do it! No more mess from kids. No one has to touch it which means no germs!! Win! It functions great and looks pretty too!!
My second simplehuman liquid soap sensor pump--not so great.

Sorry, Guys, but I really like my first simplehuman liquid soap sensor pump better than this one. It has a better dispenser control system to dispense more or less, that works better than the positioning of the hand (as this model works). If you don't pay close attention (as many kids and husbands are not likely to do) this model drips soap on the counter. My first model has a clear "window" in the back so I can see how soon I need to refill (not this one, open the top model). I had to move this new product onto my vanity to combat future problems of others in the house working with it.
This is the second 9 fl. oz. liquid soap sensor pump, high-grade brushed stainless steel I've purchased and I think it is a perfect addition to the efficiency of my home - beautiful, functional, outstanding craftsmanship, and well appreciated!
I have 3 of these around my house. One in the kitchen and one in two of my bathrooms. I love them for their convenience and ease of use. They are much better looking than store bought pump soaps and, since you don't have to touch them to get soap, much more sanitary. simplehuman's customer support has been excellent too!
