I own ATH-M50 than 2 years, and I am very satisfied with sound and ergonomy..These are first headphones ever I can trust completely and mix on..Mixes are translating very good to my studio monitor speakers (Genelecs) and vice versa. Only issue that I have with these is (unfortunately) leather peeling on top part of the frame, probably because of frequent (every day) use. Ear pads are ok for now.
Pros: Casual Listening, DJ, Film/Video Production, Studio
Cons: leather peeling off :(

Listen to The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips on these and you'll be a believer. A believer in this CD and more to the point of this review, the ATH-M50. Thank you Audio-Technica. Thank you for a wonderful set of headphones at a reasonable price. I love them because I know what to listen for, but the other day, my eyes lit up (I think they did, I couldn't see them) when I saw my daughter listening to her music through these headphones. She took them off and told me she absolutely loved the sound and the "new experience". Yeah, I have a cool kid. Oh yea; and a cool set of headphones. MMM Listening to them right now. Yep. I'm happy. By the way, I'm known to ramble... Cheers, Kev

The unboxing scared me, being that the 1/4 in came so flush with the normal jack. DON'T BE SCARED JUST UNSCREW THE ADAPTER. After that it was like Christmas, almost drooling at the sound quality. Everyone who has tried them has only one problem with them, they didn't buy them yet! while owning them for a month there has surfaced, the coiled cable can be a bit in the way, a bit of cable memory and no detachable cable at the can. I do like the padding contrary to others. The biggest problem I have had with these is that my computer sound card and audio file type isn't good enough for them!
Pros: sound padding style
Cons: cable detachment cable bending memory

Happy with sound quality, but not happy that even though I've taken very good care of these, something snapped when I put them on and now one side no longer clings against my ear, making them unusable. I paid a considerable amount for these and expected higher quality. I contacted service department and they said I'd have to pay to have them repaired. Would rather find better quality.
Pros: Good Audio
Cons: Not durable
