LOVE the compact size. There's no reason not to bring it on all adventures now. Simple to use after a short introduction to the app and system. Love the text function on long backcountry missions.

Perfect Safety Device

I got an inReach for a trip to Patagonia. I set up three check-in messages to go to my ICE folks back home, and it gave me such peace of mind during our multi-day trek. It was also really handy to spot check weather and wind. I was even able to find gpx files for our trek online, and I downloaded them so we could use it in the event we lost the trail (which we did!). This device is lightweight and the battery life is great too. Highly recommend!

Great product and recommend to anyone that spends time a long in the back country

This product does what it is meant to do very well, work as a communicator via satellite. It brings my family as well as myself tons of security knowing they can text me with or with or without cell service as well as see my location. Furthermore, I selected a satellite communicator over a beacon because, if in an emergency situation, I preferred to have the option to communicate with emergency responders rather than just having a beacon that brings them to you as soon as you hit the button and no calling them off once you hit it. You do have to pay a monthly fee for the service and I recommend going with the middle tier, you get 40 texts a month and it allows friends and family (anyone you choose to share location with) to see you locations every 10 mins. The location sharing is only available from the middle tier on up.
I give this product 4 stars because it is not very intuitive or seamless to use this as a navigator which is a marketed feature. This is no deal breaker for me as I have other Garmin devices like my Edge 850 on my bike and Fenix 6spro watch for navigation. All of these products sync with the inReach Mini 2

This is yet another great product from Garmin. The user interface is easy to understand and setup, it integrates seamlessly with the Explore and Messenger app, and gives great piece of mine while exploring areas without cell coverage. Anyone can use this, and there are multiple subscription options to meet the needs for all.
