The unit works great and the battery lasts for more than a week when turned on sparingly to send a couple messages per day. What made me choose this over similar products was the ability to send messages on the device + on my phone. Redundancy is good and a must have when away from the family for 21 days. Also, the downloadable courses are great for ultra races and pathfinding on multi day trips.

Have found a signal every time I've needed one

It took a small amount of time to get familiar with the device and how it works, and I would recommend making sure you have a basic familiarity with the device before taking it out into the back country. I have taken it on many overnight river trips and have always been able to get a message through when I needed, even in the deep walls of the Grand Canyon. I will continue to take it out with me on my adventures. Dependable and helpful device.

Great Upgrade over the 1

After having the Mini 1 for a few years, I decided to upgrade to the 2 and it really did make a huge difference. Having access to the new app unlocks a ton of ability. It seemed like my messages were sent faster and I was able to stay connected with loved ones no matter where I was. Maintains all the good from the original, durable and a great battery life.

Connection speed is much better then the first generation model.

The speed of the GPS connection, ease of use and pairing are so much better then the original model. I had no issues using this in the field and did not have the pairing issues as I had in the past.

Works great, easy to use, reasonable monthly subscription. Easy interface with the phone! Solid construction and very rugged. Everything worked, no problems experienced even when sending a message from inside the tent in a rainstorm. This is good for any experience level.

It is easy to use and easy to connect to phone and others. It is a nice size and compact able. i have found it holds its charge for a long time and charges quickly. I like that the emergency button is under a flap so you aren't accidentally clicking it. The screen is small but unless you really want to have a big screen I would suggest the larger one not the mini. The clip on the back keeps it secure to you bag or straps. Perfect!
