Peace of mind for your family and yourself. Lots of useful features in a small package with battery life to last for most of my adventures.

Backwoods Savior!!

This has been and absolutely vital tool for communication between my hunting party members the last 2 seasons. In the coastal mtns of Oregon it is hard to use radios sometimes as the height of the mtns and the tree density makes communication hard with standard radios ( I use the Garmin Rhino750) if not in line of sight. It is also nice to be able to go on hunts knowing I have no phone service but I can text home and check in and let someone know im ok or if I need help. The SOS function is an amazing feature I have yet to have to use and hoping I never do. But the ease in use of the little machine is amazing.

Gramin In-Reach

Still the industry standard with the widest user base. Intermittent issues with signal and service while in the back country and some pretty frustrating set up/web site issues, otherwise I am generally happy with it. Better to have than to not!

Small, compact, great reception. I bought this for backpacking trips but found I love having it while climbing when I'm out of cell service range. Nice peace of mind incase of emergency.

Best stand-alone satellite communicator

You can't always rely on your phone when you're out in the backcountry. Having the InReach mini ensures that i'll be able to contact someone even if my phone is dead. The battery lasts about 14 days minimum which is is a remarkable feat. This is a great purchase for anyone looking for a two-way device. It's also extremely durable. If you're deciding between orange or black. It doesn't matter, I've used both an orange and a black one. Get the one that is easily available. although orange is easier to see I opted for the black one. Chances of losing it are slim since you'll always have it clipped onto you or your backpack. I clip mine onto my belt loop.

Light & compact & when paired to phone is extremely useful. Last used for an 18 day canoe trip in NW Ontario. Primarily used for getting weather reports, campsite waypoints & messaging to the outside world. Some features take a bit of trial & error to get working properly.

I Love My In-Reach Mini

I highly recommend every hiker should have a GPS location device but my choice would be for them Garmin!! I take my In-Reach mini hiking, biking and even long distance driving. I love the fact I can text my loved ones to insure I'm safe or text if I need their help. Having the SOS feature gives me peace of mind but.... It is to be used responsibly!!! I can't say enough about the In-Reach Mini. I never leave home without it!! Great job Garmin!!!

This is a great device to have, especially for backcountry use. I use it EVERYTIME I GO OUT, sending messages too.
The one thing I don't love is taking messages takes a while, then you don't know if it went through, which is a minor annoyance. When testing with myself, the message still send "sending" even thought it was already received.
I guess the device has no way of knowing, or does it?
