Peace of mind on all my adventures

Almost every outdoor survival story I've read has included the advice to always have a non-phone communication device on you in the case of emergencies, and I'm glad I finally listened. This has given me peace of mind as a mom taking her daughter backpacking, as a woman backpacking with other women, as a solo trail runner in unfamiliar terrain, and as a novice skiier very prone to falling. It's small and light, easy and intuitive to use, and well worth the monthly subscription. Garmin products always deliver.

Works perfect! I can keep in contact with my hunting partners on the mountain when out of service and also send my wife updates to keep her happy at home.

Reliable Safety

Easy to set up and use for safe tracking. I've carried this on trips in all seasons this year. Excelent battery life for those multi day trips, or when you forget to top it off, it seems to run forever. Small and light enough I don't hesitate to take it with me, even on simple trips. Check in and weather work quick and give you (and your family) good piece of mind.

I believe a GPS communicator is essential for any back-country travel. It takes up little room, the battery lasts for days, and it could save your life or someone else for that emergency you hope never comes.

Required kit

The area I hunt I can get cell service if I hike a bit out of the way to the top of a small mountain in north Georgia. This saves me a few miles a day. I keep it with me hiking with the kids locally and some of the fishing spots that are close to home with poor service. It's also handy getting a weather report where there is no cell service, more so when you're back country and see clouds moving in. It's a digital security blanket and being able to send proof of life back home helps keeps people from worrying in a digital age.
