I love my in reach. I use it on the water with clients and in the mountains elk hunting with friends. Works great. Easy to use whether I am texting through my phone or my pre typed messages saved on the device. This device works great no matter your skill set with technology. I'm going to talk my 65 year old dad into getting one. Make sure to sync your contacts each time you add a new one! Make sure it's fully charged or bring a battery pack!

Great for keeping in touch with loved ones while in the back country and gives them peace of mind when out of cell service range. The inReach Mini 2 has improved battery life and features USB type C charging in the same form factor as the original.

I use this for sending check in messages to family while dirt biking, hunting, etc. Sometimes the messages are delayed because of satellite reception but for the most post they go through and give my wife peace of mind.

I feel safer when I'm carrying this, have used it to send both essential, and less essential messages and it has never failed.

Great way to keep in touch with the family when out in the back country. Also having help available if needed gives a good piece of mind.

Going off on a lot of no-cell-service adventures by myself, it was important to me that I invested in a device that I could rely on keeping me connected no matter where I ended up. I have the Garmin Fenix 7 Sapphire Pro Solar watch, which has been great for so many hikes and short backpacking trips, but I will never go without the inReach again!
The setup definitely took some time - I spent about an hour in total fine tuning all of the settings to my own needs - but once that was done, it couldn't be easier to use.
I also REALLY like the ability to use my phone to send messages or track my own location via connected app and the inReach's own satellite. Battery life was also great. I only turned the waypoint tracking on when I would go off on an actual hike, but with it turned off the majority of the day and the device staying on, it lasted me a full 6 day trip before it needed to be charged.
Obviously there are certain avenues that would require bigger or more robust setups, but for the average adventure or hobby junkie, I don't think you could do much better than this little guy!
