Great for off grid & peace of mind

This little gem came in very useful when mountain biking in remote areas of the back country. Amazed at the tech and integration with cell use via messaging apps. Everything worked flawlessly and the battery life is excellent. I recommend this for anyone looking for a great gadget for communicating while off the grid, in an emergency which brings peace of mind.

Dependable and essential for big trips

I purchased this device for two reasons- emergency SOS and off-grid communications. I found much more purpose to it after a couple adventures.
Yes, it give you the peace-of-mind to know that in an emergency you can push the SOS button, but don't forget to utilize it for it's communication purposes.
While on a 17-day ocean sailing trip it became an essential tool for communicating with my family, sending tracking information and acquiring critical weather forecasts.
The satellite communication plans are very reasonable priced and can be changed to meet the needs of a specific trip. The initial online setup can be a little difficult to understand but once you dial it in it's easy to adjust.
I highly recommend this useful little device or one of its more robust bigger brothers.

This inReach works as it should, you are able to send communication without cell service. Small enough to pack and take on any remote trip.

With the aid of InReach Mini2 after five and a half hour thunderstorms I was able to find out how close many fires the storm started were to me. My contacts were able to get me the info that got me out safely. I would recommend Garmin InReach to any adventure person and especially if you trek alone.

I previously had an older and bulkier InReach SE. This is much more compact and has the ability to connect to my Garmin watch. The smaller screen makes it more challenging to use the device solo, but I already have my phone for pictures, so using the app is not an issue for me. The battery life has been excellent and has not yet needed to be recharged after several hikes and a backpacking trip that was tracked.
