Used for a remote adventure race. I was able to stay in contact with my wife and kids at home giving me plenty of piece of mind. Suspending the subscription during off months is nice too. Pretty easy to set up and learn right out of the box. No computer needed, just a smart phone.

It's light weight, convenient to carry with the carabiner, and easy to use with the phone app in particular.
I was between the Zoleo and this and ended up going with the garmin.
It's tried and true and has a good reputation. Seemed to work pretty well in the mountains as long as there was some sky visibility available.

Do a lot of off shore spear fishing. Sometimes we are 15-20 miles out. Over the last few years a few divers have gone missing out here. This was so easy to set up and use. Connects right to your phone using the garmin messaging app or I can just send an update text right to the person of my choice to let them know I'm ok. Now you do have to pay for a subscription service. But you can just pay as you go so you don't also have to pay for a service you're not using. Great product for anyone who's an outdoor enthusiast or as an emergency communications plan for hurricanes and such.

Incredibly resilient to unpredictable conditions

I've been fortunate to use this device during the first leg of my colorado trail through hike. It's been able to keep a precise track of where I've gone, uploading my location every thirty minutes to a page where my family and friends can follow along. I had to send a message during a storm, which isn't ideal for satellite communications, but the device kept trying until it went through. Battery level stays high even in cold conditions. This device has provided a high reassurance for me, knowing that I can get help out in the wilderness if I need it. Keep in mind that all satellite features require a subscription to use.

Safety First

This is my second InReach and battery life in the mini2 is why this is my second device. DAYS of battery life without needing a charge. The map access on a phone is great and I've used it multiple times to make sure I'm on the right trail. Haven't had to use the SOS but have heard stories from friend who have. Glad it's there if I need it.
