The InReach Mini is my constant companion while fly fishing in the backcountry of western North Carolina. The Iridium satellite messaging allows me to stay in touch with my wife at all times. The message links with a map showing your location give an easily shared reference to your location in the event of an emergency.
The preset messages are convenient for sending quick updates without needing to open the Earthmate app.

This item is critical when out in the backcountry by yourself. You can share your track and location with people and can also communicate with them when/if necessary.

Having been in a few 'damn was I glad to have this piece of equipment or we wouldnt be here' situations, I can say that I have a lot of confidence in the inReach but hope I never have to use it for anything other than checking in.

Works great but keep it in view of the sky at all times

Works as it should. Battery drain really increases if you keep it in a pocket/in your bag. Have it in view of the sky at all times when powered on. Full time cell phone connection also drains the battery quicker. I've had great luck just connecting it when I want to check/send messages and then disconnecting it. Did a backcountry elk hunt on a single charge this way.

This little thing is a huge deal when it comes to having an emergency no doubt. But for me the helpful parts are letting the wife know a change of plan or when I have an animal down and I'm going to be late. First trip out with it I got a deer and updated the wife so she wasn't worried. Hiking, running, hunting or whatever you do out in the woods the in reach is worth it.

Works well, battery life is great

No major complaints with this unit. It's smaller than my hunting buddy's Zoleo and it worked well, allowing me to send messages via my Phone's Garmin Messenger app. Send time was a little slow, but worked well in my first use.
Granted, his Apple iOS 18 iPhone was able to send satellite messages too, so I'm wondering if these devices will be needed in the years to come. Worked well for me, great battery life (4-5 days on and still at 70% battery life). I plan to use more in the future to keep tracks, send messages, and have an SOS/emergency option.

This is the best satellites texting device for its compact size, durability, cost and usability. Definitely use with the phone app, otherwise you might want to get a more integrated model
