Anxiety relief for myself and my family
on November 23, 2024

I have thankfully only had to use the basic check in and bonus features, I feel confident hiking alone knowing I have constant access to help either for myself or others as a WFR, My family loves that I have this option as well give me no end of good natured grief if I happen forget to send a "I'm finishing my trip" check in even if I let them know another way.

This is a great device for backcountry travel. The communication interface is pretty good and it is pretty light.

works well and does exactly what you need it for. can hold charge pretty well especially with concerted effort. recharges quick. sometimes has difficulty reaching satellites to send/reciege messages.

I don't hit the trail without it

If there is a piece of gear I don't ever leave home without, it's this one. I actually recieved this as a gift from my sweet mother (sorry for all of the gray hairs mom) who became increasingly stressed about my solo outdoors trips, and the level of trips I was doing with friends. I thought it was overkill at first, but years later it's my companion on every trip I go on. As an outdoor tour guide, it's always with me and easy to instruct tour guests and friends how to use in case of emergency. The device is straightforward and functional. Texting on it can be a little annoying (working with only two buttons) but when you NEED to send a message and have no service, two buttons is an easy sell. I've used it countless times. What I didn't know when I was gifted it was that it is not a stand alone product, it's not one and done. You do need to continue to pay for a Garmin plan to keep it active. I would say 100 times over that the security of it is worth the cost to me, but I thought I'd add that in case anyone else interested in it was unawares. I'd recommend this to any outdoorsman, and especially any outdoorswoman :) be safe out there.

It works even half way around the world!

I was recently trekking in the Pamir Mountains of Tajikistan, and my inReach Mini 2 was invaluable on the trip. It allowed me to communicate with my family back in Canada and keep them updated. And we had two emergency events occur and the inReach helped us get help for the injured in a couple of hours rather than days.

I just got the Inreach mini and it seems to work like it should. I'm still working through the device pairing options to use it with multiple phones and syncing that with the account, which seems to have some hiccups but I need to work with it more to decide if its me or the device.
