Invaluable Peace of Mind

I bought my InReach Mini 2 just days before going on a hunt in Kyrgyzstan. I was in the Tian Shan Mountains, which may not be the most remote place on the planet, but you can see it from there. The ability to text home every day, as well as having the peace of mind that I could get help if needed via the SOS, was invaluable.

Mini 2

Performed as expected. Need a firmware update that allows the unit to track without broadcasting the track (non-subscription tracking) so that the tracks can be uploaded to Garrmin Explore

Awesome way to stay connected!

I purchased after talks with friends with similar devices. I loved my decision to go with the Mini 2 as opposed to the original. The messenger app is very easy to use. With good clear signal messages are quicker than I expected. One thing to make sure is that you need a clear overhead for best use but even with limited ceiling it works but with longer response times. I was literally in a cellular/data/internet dead area and stayed connected with family for 7 days. Battery would last all day. I would charge with battery pack at night and by the next night would still be approximately 80%-85% remaining.

Bought for a moose hunt in British Columbia. Performed well, great battery life, was able to acquire a signal even through the timber. Access to weather forecasts was very helpful and messaging ability gave peace of mind. We’ll worth the price of admission.

Nice and small

I bought this about three weeks ago and went on my first hiking trip with it. It function very well though I would have liked to had a bit more instruction on how to use it. Some of it is very intuitive, but I accidentally found other features somehow, and don’t know how to get back to them. An owners manual might’ve been nice. All in all I would definitely buy it again. I felt a lot safer having it.

One missing expectation

When I bought this I was under the impression that it came with the ability to use preset messages, and that option is on the user guide that came with the unit. But alas Garmin no longer offers preset messages.

Was traveling in some remote areas in Alaska, and this came in handy staying in contact with the office back in Texas and the team on the ground.
