I bought this to use in my vintage airplane as a backup to the ELT. I hope to never use it in an emergency! Wish tracking were included in the subscription so my family could follow my progress

Switched from Spot to Garmin

I love the fact that my InReach Mini 2 basically turns my cell phone into a Satellite phone. Also like the Tracking/Mapping on my InReach much better than the Spot Tracking/Mapping

Son used it for 4 offshore fishing trips. Peace’s of mind for all on shore to get check ins letting us know all is okay. Wish you could still customize the check ins based on use. Also, last trip the location feature did not work.

I used the SOS function my second time out with it. Never ever thought I would use it but I was glad I had it. Great product and service. I’ll not fly without it again. Colorado SAR is amazing.

Gold Standard For a Reason

It's small, lightweight, and probably the most important piece of safety gear you can bring with you on adventures. For the past 12 years I had a Spot (pictured for size comparison), and had no complaints. The inReach Mini 2 is a huge upgrade though. More interactive with text messages, navigation, tracking, waypoints, smart phone integration. This thing will do everything you need to avoid having to make an SOS call. Often, people just get lost when they stray from a trail and this will help steer you back on course. It's nice knowing that the SOS feature is there if you get into trouble, though. The Iridium satellite network is fast and responsive and it's nice to know I can use it globally. I can't say enough good things about the inReach Mini 2.

Just used this for the Baja 400 race to track the team riding the bike. It was accurate, reliable and easy to use. Everyone has the social link and could see where the rider was at all times. Worth every dollar!

Could be a life saver!

We took a fly-in fishing trip to a remote location in Canada. No internet, no cell signal, no radio communication. A friend experienced a serious medical issue. We were able to use the inReach Mini 2, to reach out to the outfitter, and coordinate a plane to fly him from our remote location to a hospital.

My inreach mini 2 worked well in a remote forest area, with the options in the explorer app being handy when needed too. With that said I had one instance where I had sent a message before falling asleep and woke up to that message still trying to send. I assume this was the result of me losing 30% battery in one evening. Also, our group had a zoleo too, and there were a few instances where although on the same network the zoleo was able to get messages out and the inreach was not.
