Difficult to set up

I have been frustrated with setting up my Garmin. The included booklet has print so small that it requires a magnifying glass to try and read. The online instructions have been confusing and incomplete. I attempted to use the tracking feature on my recent solo section hike on the AT and just couldn’t get it to work as expected. I must have done something wrong cause the fully charged battery was dead within 24 hours….a little disconcerting to discover mid-hike. While I blame some of this on my age (66) and dated computer skills, I don’t think it should be this difficult to get it set up and utilize the functions it was purchased for. I am hoping to get it fully functioning before my next adventure but this has been my experience so far.

A Piece of Mind!

I purchased this satellite communicator because many if not all of the places I hunt are located in remote areas without cell service. I like the interface between the device and my cell phone…makes sending and reading received messages easy on the eyes. Definitely worth the money spent.

As I often venture out to the middle of nowhere I thought it would be wise to invest in this satellite communication device. I have successfully used the text and email features to report all is well to those on my contact list. I feel confident that the Mini 2 will work when absolutely needed.

Very reliable!

I bought this before a 4500 mile road trip about 1000 of those miles in very secluded dirt roads. I fell with a 600 pound motorcycle and needed help and luckily I had this device. I was able to specify I was not hurt but was broke down and the right help came my way. Thank you so much Garmin !!

Mini 2 Northwest Passage

Attached Mini 2 to mizzen shroud so family & friends can learn it's location while sailing from Anacortes, WA to Boston, MA. Will go with dinghy on excursions as potential SOS. There are many features & patience with menu. 4 stars bcz not finished yet.

Can be slow to send, but better than nothing.

I got this a couple weeks ago for use while camping, hiking, and driving in the mountains of the PNW where there is no cell service. I tested it in town with check ins and was surprised at how quick they sent. I didn't realize they were sending via my phone until I went for a drive where there was no cell service. Those messages took 15 minutes to send rather than seconds.
The service plans are outrageously expensive but it is necessary of you want to use the device. I wish like some other providers there were rollover messages or something similar.

Love the small size!

I bought this about 1 month ago to replace my inReach Explorer +. I love the smaller size and lighter weight to easily tuck in my cycling jersey pocket. So far I have mot had any trouble learning to use the communication and tracking features.
