We use it mainly for tracking ourselves while off reading. The maps viewed afterwards are very accurate and the battery easily last us our whole trip.

Early days but it looks promising.

I spend a lot more time off trail, and by myself than a guy probably should and I have reached the age where I have enough imagination to want people to be able to find me if things take an ugly turn. The Mini 2 is perfect for me. I especially like the map feature that lets people track where you are- I plan to use that linked to my photography and painting website to let people know where I am working as part of my social media presence. I also like the texting feature that lets me check in regularly with people so they know I am fine. The weather feature is also a solid addition.
So far, I have only been able to use it on some short local hikes (I am a big believer in pre-testing equipment) but so far it has worked really well. The Mini 2 will become an important part of my standard gear list going forward.

I mve tested it out on a couple backcountry tours and it worked great. Battery life is impressive even when I forget to turn it off. Pretty nice unit

So easy to use

My wife bought this for my birthday. We took it hiking in CA the next week. Short learning curve. Most everything is done via tote phone. Garmin Epix integration is easy too. Nice piece of mind. Setup of the subscription is straight forward and easy to start and stop. As one would expect to attempt at gotcha from the fine folks at Garmin

Thankful for affordable satellite communications

I'm so excited to have an affordable option for emergency satellite communications; a way for friends and family to share the adventure using messaging and MapShare; and
a way for them to have piece of mind. One issue I've run into is iridium user has difficulty responding back to email because they can't render web page link. I didn't find any help page about two-way messaging with iridium users

Lots of features for sure

I received this as a gift 2 months ago. Mostly for safety reasons in remote places. Being an old guy I am working hard to get use to using it. Have the basics now but still somewhat confused with some options. I’ll get it but it’s slow. Down loading the manual instead of watching those too fast videos has helped.
