Peace of mind, navigation & critical emergency device

Will work anywhere. SOS function works without a subscription. Learning from many other hikers' experiences, this can be the only way to get life-saving help. I sometimes bring it on remote drives, and always on long xc excursions. Route tracking is another great safety feature. My family appreciates notifications during my long hikes, and I don't worry about them calling SAR when I'm late!

Unfortunately I had to return my inReach Mini2 because it was defective. The up/down menu buttons quit working.

I love the features. I use it for tracking when I am riding my motorcycle, especially when in remote areas. This last weekend I used it for the first time and really liked the fact that you can test it before leaving so you know it is connected and working. Then when the tracking is turned on, it gives feedback on how often it pings with the Satellite. Very comforting to get home and see the last time it pinged on the tracking feature and to know it is working.
I used a different brand prior to this purchase and there were many times I thought it was tracking and it was not. The Garmin is sooooo much better.

Solid Device

I purchased the inReach Mini 2 about 6 weeks ago. Setup, activation, and plan purchase was an easy, straight forward process. I also ended up getting the Outdoor Map+ subscription. I've only taken it out once, but it performed as advertised in an area with zero cellular coverage. Recommend adding contacts info and additional check in messages prior to your adventure. But, so far, so good.

Truly couldn't have asked for a better product that allows for a peace of mind in even the most remote areas. My first trip I used this on was an 8 day hunting trip on Kodiak, AK. Was able to check in with family from time to time and was great to know I'd have a resource available in case of an emergency.

Battery died very quickly

I bought this a month ago and used it once for a 3 day/2 night trip on the Foothills Trail in SC. It worked well for communications and weather reports, but I followed the instructions to set appropriately but after just 48 hours the battery was down at 20%. I will have to dig through all the instructions again to try to figure out if there is a setting that caused this???

Nothing but problems!

Wanted to use this to be able to reach wife when I am gone but only one of us can attach to In-Reach so I can use it for SOS when I have a problem, but cannot text her. Also, it was the DEVIL to set up without much information! Would not purchase again!
