Extremely small and lightweight. I left this tracking (low detail mode) for five days on a single charge and it had about 30% battery left. The clip is nice, the screen is readable, and I can get messages out to my wife and the mountain rescue team when there is no cell service or radio range. This is excellent for personal use though the service cost is not cheap.
Hopefully I never need to use the emergency beacon. I wish it weren't so expensive but, dang, it's well built.

Easy to use & stay in touch

Easy to use, stay in touch, and set pre-made messages. Took a minute to set up and instructions were not easiest but Garmin rep made it all make sense. They are very helpful. Once set up, works as advertised and easy to manipulate.

Comme d'autres l'ont noté auparavant, le inReach Mini est depuis longtemps un des meilleurs communicateurs GPS. La version 2 le rend plus polyvalent, avec l'interface plus efficace et les capacités de navigation plus complètes.
Je recommenderais ce produit à quiconque est prêt à investir pour un communicateur fiable et efficace qui est tout de même très léger.
J'ai utilisé la version 1 de ce produit plusieurs mois et essayé cette version-ci quelques heures.

Get it before the emergency

I briefly used a friends previous generation inReach mini, and it made coordinating a pickup at the end of a multi-day hike much easier than it would have been. A recent emergency situation close to cell range brought home to me the fact that I actually do need to invest in a PLB of some sort, and went for one with two-way messaging support. It is expensive, and the service subscriptions are not cheap either, but gear that may save lives rarely is.
I'm also happy that this new version of the mini has an improved battery, USB-C for charging / connecting to phones, and a few other improvements over the original. It fits my ultralight requirements, and has a proven record of being durable and reliable.

Great product in a small package

Haven't had a chance to use this a ton yet, but love how light it is and how long the battery lasts. I've tested out sending messages and it works great, and the new app is much improved. Really looking forward to taking this thing out for a few weeks this summer, and my wife can rest easy knowing I'm still in touch as well. The on-screen keyboard isn't great, but I will always be using it with my phone and app, so its no problem for my use case.

We use this item in 2 ways: first and foremost - it provides a sense of security when you are in remote areas with no cell coverage and it also provides a way for us to send a check in message and allow friends and families to follow us online with the Garmin Explore app - so far we are very impressed
