The unit works well for what it is designed to do, but it can be a little clunky to use just the unit by itself. Sending the preset texts are super easy, but typing out one can be a little cumbersome.
All and all I am happy with it. I paired it with my Garmin watch and they work well together as well. If your looking for some communication in areas without cell service this is a handy tool to have.

I bought the Mini 2 to give my wife "peace of mind" ... And that's exactly what it has provided...
Using the 3 "preset" messages I easily communicate when I start my day, where I'm at throughout the day, and when I get to my destination...
Very happy with the Mini 2...

Compact and light enough that I'll always bring it with me. The pre-set messages allow me to do nightly check-ins to my small family on backcountry alpine trips, and the text + map share made pick-up logistics super easy coming out of my last trip. Hope never to have to use the SOS feature.

Great tool, compact and light weight. Great for back country peace of mind. I compared to the Inreach explorer and found this to be quicker for sending and receiving messages by up to 5 minutes sometimes. Tested in western Alberta and central BC.

The InReach Mini 2 is a refinement of the original. Quicker stronger faster, charging, message sending and receiving and battery life. This is an essential communication and emergency tool that should be on every adventure and for every day life if you have areas without cell service. The new explore app is better and more user friendly. Highly recommend to keep with you always. Worth it's weight in gold.
