The InReach Mini 2 is both great for work and personal use. Setting up check in messages via the online portal is easy and allows for messages with tagged location to be sent without eating into your custom messages quota. The battery life is exceptional. We used it for over two months in Mexico checking in with loved ones back home on remote beaches and back roads. Only had to charge it a few times. After returning from the trip, I charged it up, turned it off and set it aside for its next use. Requiring it a month later, I turned it on and the battery was still 100%. The small size is convenient and the paired app is easy to use. Only downside is they no longer ship with the adapter on the back allowing you to slide it into a Garmin mount.

Battery lasts a long time and it sends messages like I need it to. Worth it. Would like if it was easier to upload activities to Strava directly from the device though. Currently I have to export the activities as a gpx then login to Strava from a computer to upload the activities, which is a pain, but maybe I'm just missing something. Also make sure to upload contacts before you go out because doing it in the field is kind of time consuming.

I like this unit over the full size Garmin InReach. It is small, has good battery life, and is nice to have the confidence of knowing if there is an emergency I have an SOS capable device no matter where I am

The inReach mini 2 is a great, small, and lightweight communicator with awesome app and device integration. Controlling it via the messaging app is easy and great at avoiding using your paid messages when possible. The integration with my Fenix 7 made it even easier to use with most of what I needed on my wrist. Honestly its worth the buy just to get access to the Garmin Explore app which is an awesome navigation and planning tool.

Communicate from anywhere, especially w/ companion app

Good product, and it works as advertised. I use this on cycling, hiking, backcountry skiing, mountaineering, road trips, and pretty much anytime I think there's a chance I could get stranded w/o phone service. The interface on the device is a little clunky but usable with practice. The companion app is the way to go. Pair it with your phone, and you can send longer messages more quickly. Just ensure the app is working while you are still in service and that it doesn't uninstall after a period of non-use. You can pause monthly service with Garmin, good if you only use this seasonally.
