Makes me feel safe

I've had one too many hikes where I thought "if this goes wrong, I'm in a bad spot". I also got my WFR, and being able to ask for help with the SOS feature is a really good safety net. I sent a free message to my parents every day that lets them know I started and needed my hike in the backcountry. Sometimes, in a canyon, it takes a few minutes of walking around so it gets a clear view of the sky to send a message but it makes me feel very safe, and I'm super happy with my purchase!

Battery life is great. Barely got down 5 percent on a 4 night excursion. Setup takes a little while, and the membership can be a bit pricey depending on what you're using it for, but reliable communication and safety are priceless to me. Sending and receiving texts work great, but if you aren't using the messenger app with the device it takes years to type your message. Super well built and consistent.

It seems to connect with satellites much quicker than my V1, and overall it works great for tracking and communicating with my loved ones.

I have been using my Garmin Mini for several years now. It's a great piece of mind and cheap insurance for all the backcountry hiking and hunting I do. My wife really appreciate updates and staying connected with me and knowing I'm safe. Which allows me more time in the woods so it's a double win. I also use this as my only source of communication while guiding in Alaska for months on end. I can talk with the bush pilots and the outfitter almost flawlessly besides 1 or 2 days Garmin lost all comms. Several of us guides had the same issues during these couple days but nothing is perfect.
