Bought evaSMART as a present for my husband. He needed something that would humidify his personal space as his eyes kept drying out from his pc work. It worked great both as a cooler and as a gentle humidifier.

It’s so easy to use and small enough, hardly takes up any space in tiny living conditions

Looove it!

I originally purchased this little cooler because I didn’t justify turning on the AC all day but I didn’t want my rabbits to suffer especially when it was hitting 90+ during the Southern California summer. Safe to say that my bunnies immediately took to it! I love how quiet and easy it is to use it and, with the water tank filled, it can easily last until either me or my boyfriend gets home from work and fills it up again. My fur babies love it so much that, even when it’s off, they love to sit in front of it which I think is their sign to us to turn it on again!

Helps a lot

My office gets a lot of sun in the morning. Even with the blinds drawn it gets warm. This little thing helps cool things down by several degrees, especially if I shut the door! To help things cool a bit more I put ice in it and then fill it with water. It is quiet and mostly unnoticeable. I do not use the connected features due to the office wifi being quite secure and not open for employees to connect IoT devices.

1 week evaSMART review

1 Week with the EvaSmart.
I’ve been using the EvaSmart strictly overnight, I share the bed and whilst I can’t sleep in anything above 19 degrees my partner likes it a lot warmer. This recent summer forced me to try out one of these coolers and for whatever reason - I settled on the EvaPolars. I decided to use the EvaSmart because it was slightly more powerful and had smart app integration. Here’s what I liked and didn’t like.
Pros:
- Noise Levels. I run the EvaSmart at roughly 30-40% of its maximum fan speed and at this level I can easily sleep through the noise with it about 1-2ft from my head. I’m a very light sleeper so this is quite impressive, its very quiet, although 100% is fairly loud - probably comparable with having a noisy desk fan running. The 40% level seems powerful enough to cool me down (especially on exposed skin, I don’t think it would do much to penetrate a duvet) whilst quiet enough allowing me to sleep - I really can’t stress how important this is for me, I probably won’t be able to go back to desk fans at night anymore.
- Longevity. At the previously stated 30-40% fan speed, I get through the entire night using up maybe 70% of the available water. Easily enough time to keep me cool throughout any sleep I would take with a lot of water to spare. I did run the fan at 100% to test the water and by my estimate I’d probably get 4-5 hours max from it this way.
- The looks. Very sleek machine, I bought the black version and it would sit fine next to modern tech appliances like Sonos etc. The lighting is very decent, not mind blowing for modern smart lighting, but this is a fan. The lighting is simply a bonus.
- No more morning mucus. Back when I used a desk fan, I used to always wake up feeling pretty awful and blocked up. I’m not medical professional, and it could all be the placebo effect - but I feel this thing kicking out air with a higher water content is why I’m not getting dried up.
Cons:
- Reservoir Lid. By far the most disappointing aspect of the device for me. The lid to the water reservoir is light, flimsy and feels very cheap. If there’s one thing I want to see revised in future versions of this product, this is one thing I will be looking for. I feel like if I were to open this too hastily it might literally break off. Not to mention if you fill the reservoir anywhere near the top, water will slosh out when carrying the water reservoir to and from the sink because the lid flaps open because its so light. In the future, make this lid heavier-duty, maybe even with a sealing design - simply put this isn’t good enough on a product with cost just shy of £200.
- App. The app’s connectivity is a bit rubbish to be honest. I usually lose the connection at some point overnight and can’t reconnect in the morning to switch off or change settings. It doesn’t inform me of this, I just can’t get it to do anything, including turning on or off. Switching the power on or off at the wall usually fixes the connection though.
- Night Light. Personal nitpick here, but when I switch on the night mode (which turns off the large sidelight and reduces the overall brightness) it doesn’t, however, turn off the lights completely. I’m a very light sleeper and even the dim glow from these would keep me awake so I usually end up covering top of the device. A minor issue but something I feel could be fixed with a software update, or at the very least give me the option to do this.
- Dead pixels. Sometimes the pixels on the display are dead or a little dull. This isn’t a consistent problem though.
- Size. This is a beast of a unit. Not so much of a surprise, but you will need a decent sized bedside table if you want to fit more than one thing on it (keeping in mind you don’t want to block the airflow).
- Customer Support. I originally sent in a query regarding the dead pixels issue but never received a reply. Maybe due to the Covid situation, but still not impressive overall.
Overall Thoughts:
This may seem like I included more negative things than positive, but my rating was 4/5 and for a reason - I really like this product! But its definitely not perfect and I want to see the next version of it very badly. Like I said, after this I won’t go back to using a desk fan, especially not overnight. This was the most expensive offering, and I feel like some minor aspects of its manufacturing could better represent that, but if there’s a new version I’ll buy that too.
