This trash can was a replacement for one they no longer make. I don't love it. The top always has fingerprints and smudges, and the lid doesn't open a full 90 degrees. Also, to get the lid to stay open at all you have to pull both top pieces back and it's annoying and cumbersome. I would not recommend this trash can to anyone.
I had two simple human trash cans for 15 years. They felt heavy duty, didn't move that much when you used the step.
These are supe lightweight with cheap plastic base. They look very nice and see to operate well enough, but they definitely dialed back the quality and kept the high price.
May return but there doesn't seem to be good alternatives
Even though I have had only a few days, this 45lLslim step trash can (brushed)seems durable and holds a lot of garbage. This is my 3rd simplehuman trash can and each time, I choose a different style. I like the compact and sleek design that fits the decor of my kitchen and one bedroom senior apt.
What’s better is the black metal, which I prefer over my old stainless cans. I get that the plastic lid won’t dent, but I don’t like the look of it and I doubt it will last as long as the old metal lids. The pedal seems to be coated in plastic or something because it’s streaky and polishing it helps but not completely. The mechanism for opening and closing seems delicate and one of the cans stopp
