Somehow I love a trash can?

One word to describe this: Easy. This trashcan is easy on the eyes, easy to get bags in and out, and easy to use (I love the soft-close of the lid and the fact that it sits flush with the can...discourages hands from prying it open instead of using the cleaner foot pedal!). Easy, easy, easy! Worth the investment.

Debated between a touch-less/wave automatic trash can and step can but prefer the step can because less issues may occur over time (lid not closing all the way/alignment and phantom openings).

Pricey but worth it!

I hesitated spending this kind of money for a trash can, but glad I did. It is a very good quality, looks great and works well. The liner pocket is a handy feature.

Beautiful, elegant, and functional

Yes, it's an expensive trashcan, but I think it's worth it. Not only does it look great in our kitchen, but the step mechanism is very high-quality. I love that the spare liners are kept in the back compartment of the trashcan, and simplehuman's liners fit the space so well. It's great that the entire can is used for the trash bag and that there isn't the extra interior plastic piece that you find on a lot of other trashcans.
