Very convenient shape and design

I love most things about this caddy. The rectangular shape is space saving. The inner container makes it easy to clean and hides the bag. If it was a little bit bigger, it would be perfect.

i was so happy when i came across simple humans compost caddy. it is the perfect addition to my trashcan! great size and keeps the smells in the can! makes composting easy.

Great little caddy

Love that this thing is so sturdy and clears up counter space. Downgrading it from 5 stars for a few reasons: It is a little small, it is impossible for me to lift off the trash can and onto the counter with only one hand (like when I've already started chopping ...), and we've had one episode of the bag slipping down into the caddy, which wasted a bag and was a mess to clean up. Otherwise it is great.

Attracts fruit flies

The caddy does not seal air right, attracting fruit flies. However, because it has minimal ventilation, moisture is trapped inside allowing larva to breed - had a very gross experience removing the compost bag five days after I started filling it.

Somewhat cheesy construction and too small to be practical

First, the way the lid attaches to the top section is unreliable and I wound up having the small metal pieces fall out. Fortunately, I was able to find the tiny piece and get it back together, but it seemed out of character for a simple human product.
Second, while it's aesthetically pleasing, the size makes it impractical. When I'm cooking a large mean I wind up using a paper shopping bag instead of the bin because it gets full before I've finished chopping.
I would not purchase again.
