have realistic expectations

The Instinct Solar is much better than the original Instinct.
It only took less than an hour to work out how to use it. I've used it for 9 months permanently on my wrist for 70 km hiking each week, 100,000m rowing each week and 10 hours of farmwork a day and it still looks like it's straight out of the box. Screen visibility is fantastic, night or day. Estimated calorie use is consistent, but a bit lower than other devices. GPS is accurate to within 5m per km. Heart rate measurements are pretty good, but a chest belt is better. Battery life is spot on what Garmin claims. I don't bother with the smartwatch functions, so cannot comment on them.
If you want a bombproof hiking outdoors watch with long battery life and some smartwatch features, you will not be disappointed. If you want a colour screen, cool graphics and all the latest gimmicks, look for something else.

This Watch Has Everything I Need

This is a very nice watch. It has all that I need and looks great. I also like the fact that it's solar charged along with a cord to charge it. After adjusting the settings, it's set up just the way I like it. It's very easy to read in the bright light and has back light for night time. I had a Fitbit Charge 3 before this and it lasted just over 2 years and quit taking a charge. This is a far superior watch. I'm glad I got it. It was also on sale at Best Buy when I bought it. I also bought the 3 year extended warranty.
I would recommend this to a friend!
