[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: THE YAWNING PORTAL GAME by HASBRO is a really nice challenging board game to play with up to four players. When I first recieved the game and opened it I thought it was a bit intimidating. It looked like it would be very hard to understand, however, once I started playing it this was not the case. It is fun and exciting and you want to hurry and be the first to match your food tokens. It's also exciting to receive the pretty colorful gems as tips. There are so many characters too. Its our new favorite game to play on family game night. You dont have to already be a fan of Dungeons & Dragons to love this game. I would definitely recommend it to all my family and friends.

Beautiful components and art, but very boring

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm going to be completely direct here, my son and I didn't enjoy this game in the slightest - and we play Dungeons and Dragons campaigns pretty often. I feel the name "Yawning Portal" is very accurate, because we were incredibly bored. It is an extremely technical game with no dice rolls or anything of that nature, just robotic procedures you have to go through each turn to collect foods and gems. I love the world of D&D but this game is a total miss in our opinion.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is by far the one of the best Dungeons & Dragons Best Yawning Portal game ever for the whole family! Trust me when I say, everyone will have a great time playing this game! Don't believe me...just give it a try and you won't be disappointed! Afterall, the strategy game is from Famished Beasts and Fantastic Beasts! You just can't go wrong with this game!

Yawning Portal game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You can play this game as a single player or with up to 4 people. I felt the instructions were easy to follow. Strategy is involved, so if you like that sort of thing, this is the game for you. If you like D&D, this is a fun new game to incorporate that theme, but as for someone who doesn’t know much about D&D, it’s also a fun game to play. Perfect for family game night.

So fun to play with kids

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed playing this game with my family including my two kids who are 8 and 10. They thought the game was so silly and fun. The only downside is that there are a lot of little pieces that I'm worried my kids will lose. We will have to be sure to keep track of all the pieces. But we will definitely be playing it again, next time maybe we'll invite some friends!

I've never played D&D but I've wanted to...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This seems like it's a great game for those who know and love Dungeons & Dragons. For a total newbie like myself...I'm not sure. The game feels complicated and overwhelming when you open it. The best thing is the chest of colorful and very magical feeling plastic gems, lol. Being totally new to this universe...it's confusing. It honestly feels like a game for kids whose parents are intense D&D fans...Or just for true blue D&D fans.
For me, even being a foodie and a board game lover, this seems a bit boring. I think its because I have no emotional connection yet to D&D. I didn't know that the Yawning Portal was a real place in this world, that it connects with many different stories, etc. It would be like a game on Hogsmeade if you don't really know what Harry Potter is. Overall, not for me. I'll be gifting it to my cousin who will appreciate it more than I can.

Fun game - You don’t have to love DnD

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband is a huge Dungeons and Dragons fan so we picked this game up and I begrudgingly agreed to play. He loves the theming as a fan, but you do not need to be a fan to play this game. The concept is simple but we found a YouTube video that explained it much more clearly than that written directions. It’s a strategy game where you score points by setting pieces on the board to “feed” your customers. No fighting each other with cards, or complicated game play. We played with our 8 year old and she needed a bit of help but really enjoyed it (mostly for collecting the colorful gems). This is an easy game to learn and I was pleasantly surprised by how fun it was.

Beginner starter for main game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dungeons and Dragons by Hasbro is a very complex game that one needs to emerge fully for game play. I must admit the whole thing scares me. However, I saw the Dungeons and Dragons: the yawning portal. This seems more simplistic with a smaller realm and story line that isn't so intimidating. I would recommend this game to anyone who has an interest for the main game but wishes to ease themselves into before diving deep in the world. Very easy and short lived instructions. Easy board to set up for 2 or up to 4 players. Game pieces are sturdy and nice to hold. Cards have a nice dexterity to them. Cute and convenient holding display, although cardboard, organized well. Bright and clean vivid colors. It's like a beginner guide game for the whole thing.
