Overly Complex and underwhelming

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been playing D&D for decades and was so happy to see them a game based in my favorite Inn in Water Deep. My whole family was super excited to find this game and we cancelled a campaign session to play this game instead. We were disappointed, to say the least. The game itself, the board and pieces are cute, bright, and in the case of the gems, pretty. The instructions are not very clear. In fact, they are down right confusing. We turned to YouTube to figure out gameplay. It still wasn't very clear after watching several videos. Gameplay is underwhelming and almost tedious. I didn't enjoy it and I ended up winning by a lot of points. Maybe I expected the Yawning Portal game to be more than it was, but I was severely disappointed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fun game!

The gem pieces are beautiful and make the game even more fun. Plus getting to know all the different types of players was a fun aspect for my husband.

Very fun addition to the Dungeons & Dragons games

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not an avid player but I did get into for my nephew who loves to play Diungeons & Dragons. He taught me everything I need to know to play. I thought this game would be a perfect addition to his collection, and I was right! He loves it so much. We played for hours and it was so much fun! I really do recommend getting this for your D&D fans they will love it as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this Dungeons and Dragons: The Yawning Portal game to try out at our weekly family game night. My sons literally have played it on their own even since. They absolutely love it! Being an 80’s child myself I thought it was pretty cool. I just got lost in the instructions a bit. If it weren’t for my sons showing me step by step how to play I think I would’ve been lost forever. Probably would’ve ended up in The land of the Lost! Haha! But it is a wonderful family friendly game and I guarantee you will love it once you get the hang of it!

Good mix of gameplay elements

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The theme, tokens, and pieces are fun but the star is the interaction of various game elements. It took a bit of time to set everything up and grasp the basic rules. That said it moves fairly quickly once you get going.

Beautiful well-made game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this game to play with my son who usually loves strategy games, but he hasn’t shown interest in it yet. So, I haven’t fully played it yet. The game board is beautifully designed and has a unique assembly. The gem stone pieces are so fun and mesmerizing. I am very intrigued by the action hero - barbaric meal theme of this game. It is put together so well and the instructions are very detailed. Should be a blast once we get started.

I was skeptical at first as it was a lot of information to process but once I got the hang of it, it was very fun to play with a group of people. I highly recommend this game to anyone to enjoys adventure!

Interesting Game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got this game and I can't wait to play it with my family. It seems very interesting. There is a lot that goes into playing this game. A lot of steps. Though the instructions are detailed and show pictures of how to set up the game and play I may need my 15-year-old daughter to explain the instructions to me. The game comes with an expandable board, depending on the number of players, food and enchant tokens, gems, hero cards, action tiles, objective cards, reference cards, and the game board. The suggested age is 12+ and for 1-4 players so my whole family can play. We’ll see how it goes.
