Horrible watch! Did not work and just locked up!

I would not buy this watch. After diving with 11 guys for a week the best answer is a the Apple Watch Ultra. The Apple Watch Ultra can function as a dive computer using the built-in Depth app and the Oceanic+ app. The Depth app automatically launches when submerged and tracks depth, time, and water temperature, while the Oceanic+ app provides more advanced features like dive planning and decompression information, requiring a subscription for full functionality. Just works!

Hello MK3i, goodbye ultra2

If diving and fitness tracking are your top priorities—or you’re after a rugged, reliable multisport watch with outstanding battery life and complete independence from any smartphone ecosystem—go with the Garmin Descent Mk3i.
It absolutely crushes the Apple Watch Ultra 2 on battery endurance: switching from daily charging on the Ultra 2 to charging just once every 10–25 days (depending on usage) with the Mk3i is a total game-changer for multi-day adventures or dive trips.
The Ultra 2’s reliance on the subscription-based Oceanic+ app felt frustrating—limited interface for anything beyond recreational diving, an ongoing yearly fee, and it just wasn’t up to more technical needs. On top of that, cellular connectivity was unreliable (often failing without the iPhone nearby), and Siri prompts constantly conflicted with my phone.
I also added Garmin’s Index smart scale and Index BPM blood pressure monitor to my setup—they integrate seamlessly with the Mk3i via Garmin Connect, making it effortless to log workouts, track recovery, and monitor overall health metrics in one place.
The Mk3i is packed with so many advanced features (air integration, diver messaging, superior depth rating, and pro-level training tools) that I genuinely wish I’d switched from Apple sooner—it’s built for serious use without the constant hassles.

Great upgrade!

I purchased this to upgrade from my MK1, I am a commercial diver and wear this everyday. I’m extremely impressed by how well it holds up to the rigors of commercial diving. I also use the MK3i for my main dive computer for recreational diving and it has never failed me. This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone!

Beautiful Watch

I've actually only had the watch about 2 weeks and that is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of five. The one thing Garmin could do that would help immensely is the addition of a quick start fundamentals guide included in the box. Garmin assumes everyone is capable of finding all the information for functions of this watch thru the App and Websites but I found that the basic startup was just a little confusing. I've owned an Apple Watch prior so I had some understanding of basic setup. This watch blows Apple right out of the water with its bright easy to read face and functionality with buttons and touchscreen. I"m still learning about its different features and operation, but so far I couldn't be happier about its performance. I did add an App to referee soccer matches and that was the main reason for buying the watch so far is working great. I hope to get an opportunity to check out some of the scuba diving features this summer.

Garmin Descent Mk3i — A Game‑Changer for Serious D
on January 17, 2026

The Garmin Descent Mk3i is easily one of the most impressive dive computers on the market today. Garmin took everything divers loved about the previous Descent models and elevated it with smarter tech, sharper visuals, and features that genuinely enhance safety, awareness, and enjoyment underwater.

As a dive computer I cannot imagine it being beat. I love it for golf and for biking. It does a good job of traking sleep and other health details. I wear it almost every minute of every day.
