An expansive adventure, and a beautiful world.

If you've played the first installment of Elex, you pretty much know what to expect. This game follows the original story, decades after the events of the first game. There are new monsters, a beautiful new map of Magalan, and hundreds of hours worth of nooks and crannies to investigate. All with that signature Piranha Bytes jank, a handful of minor glitches and some significant lag whenever you pass too close to a waterfall (Though, that may just be the console port. It may play smoother on PC).
Minor technical issues aside though, it's still a wonderful experience, and you'll definitely get your money's worth out of it. I do think the first game had a better story and more interesting character quests, but the gameplay has been smoothed out, and even the jetpack combat feels fluid and easy. Plus, I won't complain about getting more Elex.
On the other hand, if you've never played Elex before, I highly recommend trying the first game before you play this. While they certainly attempted to make the game accessible for newcomers, I think you would be missing out significantly if you don't know the plots related to the events of the first game since so many characters make a return, and only vaguely reference their pasts, you would be doing yourself a disservice by playing it as a stand-alone experience.
It's also not a game for everyone, I'm sure. It's a bit clunky, and if you go in without expecting things to be a bit rough around the edges, you will likely be disappointed. But I'm here to vouch that, if you get to the core of it, Elex is an amazing and worthwhile experience, and I would love to see more people give it the shot it deserves!
